My biggest gripe is that she requested to talk to the supervisor, and he refused to follow even That simple rule. Let's put it like this. You go to a fancy restaurant, and the server is rude. You go to the maitre'd demanding to see the owner, and he refuses your demand. You'd be standing there, madder than a wet hen, causing a scene. Different circumstance but the same result. Fair is fair. She has the right, though, to go to the WTA and insist that he not be allowed to call any of her matches again. Several other high-profile players have done it, and so should she.

Asking for a supervisor was a bit extreme & accusing the opponent of not siding with Coco when Coco had disrupted the game could be seen as tactics. That's the nature of the game.

He can't overturn his call, which is why he made her replay the point. ALL within the rules. What the gripe is about is that CoCo asked for a supervisor to explain the rule about the call, Also within the rules of a disputed play, and the umpire Refused. The rules states that a player can ask for a supervisor during a dispute, to which the umpire Must comply. CoCo's dispute was NOT that he called the ball out, it was that he made the call after she made serve on the play, let Plisokva return, THEN called it out. The umpire had enough time to make a timely call, but delayed it until Pliskova returned it. It was the Timing of the call. It is delayed calls like that one that's the basis for computerized umpires, which more venues are starting to go to. Pretty soon, there won't be a need for human umpires, and to be honest, I'm not going to feel bad about it. I have seen the same type of thing happen to less prominent players a number of times. It just so happened that this game featured a prominent player, with the whole World watching. If you listen to the replay, even the announcers, who were great players themselves, said that the call was improper. So you're telling me that former players are wrong too? Oh, and for the record, neither I, CoCo, nor the announcers accused Pliskova of anything improper. She did what Any player would do when a call goes in their favor, stay silent.

@Gigusx people are outraged at how he called the match, he made several calls intervening play even prior to this that were wrong and highly questionable. Not knowing the rules is one big issue, however knowing the rules and make biased calls is a bigger issues, (Pierre knows the rules people) breaking the rules and deliberately ignoring player rights make this a huge black eye for the sport. There was a lot going on during this match, Coco could sense it and asked for a Supervisor that is the only recourse she had while playing, the denial speaks volumes.

I disagree with the point stating that the umpire is good if he is clearly wrong. Especially if they know it. No person doesn’t want to be corrected but if you are wrong, know it, and deny it, you are corrupt. Even if you think you’re right, Get the supervisor, get the call right and get the cheats out of the game.
