I’m the same. I don’t like chocolate cake or frosting on my cake. There is vanilla cake, butter cake, cinnamon cake, lemon cake, strawberry shortcake, banana cake, coconut cake, and many different types of fruit glazes or powdered toppings that can go in cakes and cake pops. No chocolate necessary.

I noticed how she was acting. She knew that cake was better than hers, but most of these people in these competitions do it too. Like that girl who spit out her own food thinking it was one of the others. I forgot what the food was. They were blind folded and testing their food with the others. That was funny. Just because it's your mama's recipe, doesn't mean it taste good. A lot of mamas can't cook but think they can.

If you've ever had a Starbucks cake pop which are very dense, sweet, and buttery that's the recipe of a pound cake turned into a cakepop. Most good cakepops the base recipe is a pound cake because you need the pop to be dense enough to hold its shape.

Ironically, she said her business is making cake pops, which are typically made with cake and icing. I had a baking business years ago, but I always made Swiss buttercream for my cakes rather than American buttercream because I don't care for super-sugary frosting. And when I absolutely had to make cake pops (which I loathe, because every cake pop I've ever tried has had the consistency of regurgitated cake) I made them with liqueur, mascarpone, and/or unsweetened whipped cream instead of icing.

If someone tells you to bake a cake, do you just not add flavor to it because "they didn't say to make it taste good?" Also, pound cake isn't even American, it's European. You can't tell someone their recipe for pound cake is wrong and then use a bastardization of the original recipe to Americanize it and pretend it's "correct". By your logic, the original, the European recipe, is correct.
