Well, that isn't quite how I expected it to go with the nuke launch! Poor ISS, caught in the cross fire of a war. I'm surprised that Price didn't launch all the missiles the sub had.

@@InsanityorNothing the real question is how Price launched anything since I'm sure all subs require at least two operators to authorize any launches? But yes, he wasn't kidding about the oil fire metaphor. Really knocked the wind from the Russian's sails with that one.

That EMP blast really gave the US forces a much needed advantage in order to turn the battle around in DC.

@@michaelandreipalon359 Yeah....that bit always gets my head scratching.Regardless of a peace treaty.....how the heck did the Russian military not collapse after their failed invasion of the US? Last I checked.....their atlantic fleet blockading New York got smacked and their ground/air forces didn't fare much better either.

Looking at the whole picture, launching that missile caused casualties on both sides, but it gave the Rangers a chance to regroup and broke the momentum the Russians have built.

To say nothing of the fact that the US has the home-field advantage on this one, which will help them in the long run.

@@filiptrescec definitely helped even things out to a degree. Although it definitely is a huge issue long term for general infrastructure.

Hence why things ended on a sudden note on New York in the next game. No Foley, Dunn, and Ramirez though, for some reason. Didn't stop the invaders from somehow falling back partially intact and launching another attack on Europe complete with preceding chem strikes. Makarov sure is quite nutso doing that, alongside keeping Russian President Vorshevsky and his kin hostage so to prevent a much needed humbling peace treaty from happening.

The fact theirs no way one guy could shoot his way through a nuclear submarine, then launch a nuclaer missle...way way too much security involved to prevent that, the idea was pretty novel. i'm going to detonate an IBM in space to caus ean EMP to just screw up teh invasion. Its the kind of fun writing I like to see in a crazy shooter :D

It's an enjoyable B-movie tier plot. There's charm to it if you don't go in trying to expect realism and what not.

Oh well, it sure beats "Alive!" and "Destroyer", courtesy of KISS and Justice League Unlimited.) 1:24-2:14: You already played through this two missions ago, game, why do it again like a poorly done cartoon episode's commercial break transition?! Space has become a warzone... this sure becomes harsher in hindsight come the distant sequel Infinite Warfare. 3:16 and 3:36: *BOOM!!!!!!* Interestingly, there appear to have been plans to make an International Space Station mission where apparently the astronauts were forced to defend against Ultranationalist infiltrators seizing control of the space station; this concept was eventually recycled for CoD: Ghosts when it came to Federation infilitrators seizing control of the U.S. military's ODIN orbital tungsten rod weapon. From the wiki: "The EMP apparently did not knock out power in southern Georgia, Florida, and eastern Massachusetts because lights can be seen from Sat1. But in the remaster, the entirety of the east coast was affected by the EMP." Also: "There is a developer oversight regarding the missile flight path from the submarine at Petropavlosk, Russia to very high altitudes above Washington, D.C. The missile was depicted in the mission briefing as flying away from Petropavlosk to the northwest, when the correct angle for shortest flight path is northeast.
