On September 18, 2023, police were dispatched to an escaped pit bull in La Crosse, WI that had residents fearing its aggressive behavior, causing chaos in the neighborhood. Officers located the pit bull on the hood of a van, displaying hostility. While the owner attempted to leash the dog, it unexpectedly charged at one of the officers.

Not only did she admitt that the dog was about to be put down, because of it's aggressive nature, but also that the dog attacked others previously AND that the drugged the dog with an amount diphenhydramin, more than 10 times the reckomended amount for an animal. How is this situation any different than a mother calling 911 on her out-of-control son who's going around assaulting people? Would you expect the police to show up and berate the mother for raising such a horrible son while he continues assaulting people around him? I really don't get 99% of the comments here. She's obviously not a good dog owner but this situation was well beyond that and the police acted in an completely unprofessional if not criminally negligent way.

I 100% agree. It’s disgusting that this dog lost it’s life because of her complete negligence and not giving af about loving/training that dog. She didn’t even get it neutered, ffs. She just wanted to make money off of it. So heinous! This is an emotional being that was treated horribly by this irresponsible/selfish woman, and never given a chance in life. Then we find out she repetitively physically abused the poor thing too, and even POISONED it! 😡 No wonder it acted like this! God it makes me so mad. The other woman said the dog was nice until the owner hit her and kicked her. The owner was so abusive and wanted the officers to shoot the dog after she tried to kill it with Benadryl. She needs to be locked up. It's her fault the dog was put down. God bless these kind, patient officers.

@@RonaldWilliams-lp3bg One doesn't have to be a mind reader to be able to tell when someone doesn't accept responsibility for their bad decisions and mistakes. That pit was HERS. When something goes wrong and they just deflect, deny, blame-shift, etc., it's not hard to see. One of the cops asked, "This is YOUR dog, right?" after the owner said stuff like, "Why wouldn't YOU...just tase him?" and "...are ya gonna wait for another officer to get bit?" and "This is why I called YOU guys but nobody did nothing." She tries to make it sound like although it's her dog, the cops are to blame when SHE owns it but can't control it. It's a pretty safe bet to say she holds others responsible for whatever goes sideways in her life. You don't have to be a mind reader to figure this out.
