Normally I like your videos but the commentary is getting to be a little much, especially when you’re doing everything you can to make it seem like the police are right in every situation, and they definitely weren’t here. Crazy how you seem to think bonds mean you get to ignore sentencing and not go to jail or prison if you're sentenced to serve time. Bonds only get you out until your court date, and most of the time people don't get sentenced to serve time. The manager didn’t lie. She was trying to be helpful based on what the cops told her. The original cop in the beginning taking the report lied. The witness never said anything about the people. The witness actually said she wasn’t sure and told what she thought. The cop then went t back and reported it as accurate information to everyone else

It’s all about effective communication and “verbal judo.” Many of these police officers that I’ve seen in various videos often unintentionally escalate the situation because they don’t know how to speak with people. For example, the first officer that interacted with the man and his wife and baby, all he had to say was something like “good evening folks, my name is officer so-and-so with the (insert police department here). I just want to talk to you for a minute because there was an accident near by where a couple people walked away before we could offer medical attention and we just want to make sure that they’re ok. A witness to the accident called 911 and said that the people who walked away was a man, woman, and child who were wearing similar clothes to what you’re wearing. You’re not in any trouble but we just want to ask you a few questions just to clear things up.” Then he could have asked how long they were there, what car did they drive to the restaurant, etc. Often, being polite and giving respect first will often calm someone down and they become more cooperative. Of course if the guy dislikes/distrusts police then there’s likely nothing that could be said to change their demeanor.

What she failed to mention to the cops was the couple had been there for over an hour waiting on their food and had complained about the poor service. The fact she told police that they had only been there for 20 minutes and seemed very suspicious upon entering was an intentional exaggeration and lie to get them in trouble because she was butt-hurt over them complaining and possibly giving her attitude. Sadly, this fact was overlooked by the cops, but not by Applebee's Corporate office who fired her.

Considering the white car they drove there in was parked right there they could've just pointed to the car and proved they are the owners by using the car keys to make the tail lights light up or something. Fighting and freaking out against police asking you simple questions when you know for a fact you haven't done anything wrong is the dumbest decision you can make.

The description of the suspects closely matched the couple in the restaurant, plus the staff member lying and saying that they’d only been in there for 20 minutes would’ve made me think that they were the perpetrators. It’s crazy how off descriptions from witnesses can be and when they line up with a random couple and is backed up by a staff member’s timeline it makes the whole situation bad. Yes there should’ve been more interrogating of staff members about the timeline but they did what they could with what they had. The biggest thing that could’ve helped the couple would’ve been to point out that your car was the one outside the restaurant. If the man would’ve answered the question from the officer at that time right at the start of the encounter they would’ve had no problems.

The cops should've done their investigation properly by checking the cameras, which took less than 5 mins to do and not go hands on first. Yes it could have been easier if the couple said what car they were driving, but they also have thier civil rights to not answer if they did not want too, it is not up to them to do the cops job/investigations properly. I can not imagine going to eat with my wife and kid to end up being tackled, beaten up, pepper spread and arrested, and my child taken away.

Everyone of these people -cops, witnesses, staff and those questioned are at fault here....poor behaviour from all the damn adults in the room. But ultimately the cops needed to do a more thorough job at the scene of the crime - more thorough information - a calmer and longer time spent questioning the witnesses for example more details on the suspects sizes and weights would have been a simple thing that could have been obtained at the scene relatively quickly. The police do get overexcited and go chasing prematurely. But the guy not stating the car they drove there was pretty dumb too.
