On February 17, 2024, an Eau Claire County Sheriff's deputy was monitoring traffic at a known drug hotspot motel in Eau Claire, WI, and observed a vehicle leaving the lot. It was discovered the female driver's license was suspended and she was flagged with a "Be On the Lookout" alert. Upon learning she was going to jail, she slipped out of her handcuffs in the squad car and wreaked havoc.

If anyone who's never been arrested before is wondering, it's not hard to slip your cuffs the first time they cuff you, which I'm assuming is why I constantly see people doing it on these body cam videos. When I was young and stupid, I slipped mine off on the way to jail, but after I did I instantly realized that it was not going to go well for me so I slipped them right back on lol. I've been clean for 11 years and have an amazing 6 year old girl.

What the kids “made up”? I checked it out. It’s that over a period of nine years, she prostituted two of her children out in return for meth. The case went to trial but was ultimately dropped because it was too difficult for the victim to continue-not because anyone involved didn’t think it happened. Love the heart of the officer. The car doesn’t have insurance, has weed in the car, and was being driven by the lady without a license. She just went berserk and took a swing at him. He has every right and reason to tow the car but still gives the keys to her friend and says, “we’re not gonna look.” He still had sympathy for her overall situation, despite the fact she continues to dig herself a deeper hole. It is really hard. Finding a job or an apartment with a record is near impossible. Getting to a job without a license or insurance is near impossible. Paying for those things without a job is impossible. People make bad choices, then keep making them. Nonetheless, I found this very sad. Did she actually stop, or drive through. What I noticed was a LEO who wouldn't even tell her parole officer that she has a job, and was supposed to work in the morning. That was after they didn't find any drugs in her car, after she cooperated! I saw her pull her arms from the officer after exiting the car, but she never attempted to hit an officer. If she had but been unsuccessful, then you would see the blow blocked somehow, but all she did was forcefully pull her arm across her chest. Also "make me" isn't threatening an officer, it implies they will have to use physical force against her as she will resist. Police use force all the time without being assaulted, mostly to get a suspect to put their hands behind their back, sometimes the officer will even throw blows, but that still isn't assaulting an officer.

But my point is that when you’re already in a financial hole it’s hard to dig out, especially with so much policy working against the poor. I went from employed to almost homeless in a year because I got sick. There are many reasons people become homeless and their life spirals out of control. Empathy is better than judgement.
