I know its a bit ago you posted this but just in case it helps others when you place the Throttle switch assembley on the handlebars theres a locating hole that it sits in its nothing to do with the bar taper. This video shows it kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3-5ZmaEi9x_ZqM

I actually stopped by this video prepping for removal of my bar ends, and tried to get at the clip ends directly to no avail... But then I decided to just *use a No-2 phillips on a 20v impact driver (while holding the bar end from spinning with my leather summer gloves)* and that zipped my 2023's bar ends right off immediately. Took me no more than 20 minutes to install what I needed.

Thanks for the vid, I did this on a cb300r, the throttle side seemed too complicated to move everything, ( both brake fluid reservoir, throttle assembly), so I wedged the clamp top and bottom, (with the bar weight out, but the screw in) and pulled it out with a vice grips. Not as clean as your procedure, but very little drama. CB300 weights don't seem as robust as the 500. Thanks again

Thanks a lot for the video, got the same handguard on order so this video was super helpfull. Funny you mention 64mph thats excactly where I got vibes on my footpegs with the rally raid bash plate installed. Hope it will be the same when I fit the handguards. Since motorway speed limit in denmark is 68 mph. and by then the vibes are mostly gone again :).

As a side note I have the honda OEM heated grips. Hopfully I wont damage those, removing the bar end weights. Any thoughts on that??. thanks in advance.

I think it is the nature of the engine. I have a 16t front sprocket to try at some point. In UK, where I live anyway, 60-70 is average motorway speed. It'd be good to shift the vibes up a bit. But also, people have said, this engine gets smoother with age. Again, time will tell. Thanks for kind feefback. Appreciated 👍

I've not had issues fitting Barkbusters to my other bike which has heated grips. I guess it depends on gently loosening the glue on the clutch side. I'm sure it'll be fine if you don't use any force. 👍

Thanks for that. My CBx is coming out of hibernation this weekend and I’ve got a pair of barkbusters that need fitting. I was anticipating the bash it method I’ve seen in other videos but I’m hopeful of a less violent method now 😁

The method Codgerbiker demonstrated is more “civilized” than the other methods I’ve seen. It seems easier to do it this way than to yank and pull and hammer and break parts. I mean what happens if you don’t like the way it looks or the new bar weights don’t quell the vibration as well. Then you have to hunt down and probably wait for new parts.

My bike vibrates at about 64mph and smooths out around 70mph. I just made 610 miles and have done my oil change. Looking for a short trip after I get my gps installed. Waiting on a 12v splitter from eBay. I hope it isn’t stuck in the Panama Canal.

I tried this. Couldn't manage it as my weights seem to be much tighter than yours were. I press both ends of the clip down but still cannot get the weights out. I think my DIY days are numbered anyway as I no longer have the eyesight to see these close in , fiddly jobs. I would prefer not to use the brute force method but I think I am going to have to.
@CodgerBiker
@CodgerBiker Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. It gets tougher as near vision decreases. One of mine had a little glue residue on it, but it didn't affect removal. Good luck 👍

@@CodgerBiker Thanks. Managed to do it in the end after a cup of tea and a chill out. I managed to damage the clip on the left hand weight because I was struggling to see what I was doing - yeah longsightedness makes things like this a pain these days - which is why it was so difficult to extract I think. The right hand weight came out as easily as yours. Your suggestion to loosen off the screws was genius.

Cheers👍 I was considering similar idea. With this bike I will do no more than odd gravel track. I also want to use my centre stand. A plastic one would be perfect and, maybe, quieter than some. I've yet to see one. I almost went for SW Motech one, but very expensive. So I just fitred front fender extender for now. If you find one please share 👍👍

Very nicely done, I didn't fancy the hammering method either so I'll give this a try when I get around to the handguards. Any reason you went for these over the Barkbusters?

Usually I'm Barkbusters through and through. These too have metal backbone. They were sold as specifically fitting CB500x 2022+. I'm sure Barkbusters fit fine also, but I bought these before I had the bike and wanted to be sure everything would fit without needing extra adapters. Also I'm keeping it road bike. Also these come with some bar end weights of a sort. 👍

Hi Codger, that 10 minute video has all the hallmarks of a TMJ. I fitted some hand guards to a Honda Crossrunner last year. That was a proper TMJ with all the stuff Honda put in inside the handlebars. How long did your TMJ take?
@CodgerBiker
@CodgerBiker Жыл бұрын
2 days! 🤣 Mainly because I was doing 3 jobs at once. As you guessed, part 2 is the hand guards, I mean they'll be straight-forward! I can also see me taking it all apart and replacing the weights on a whim. I never know what I'll do next 🤣👍

@@CodgerBiker Congratulations Codger - 2 days is a new record for a TMJ! Both Dave Doom & I are proud of you. Talking of which DD did a TMJ of changing 2 sink taps at the weekend, it took him 4.5 hours without a break. To be fair they had been on for 50 years and were determined not to come off. I now have my Tiger 850 and have a few TMJ's coming up on that. Will keep you posted.

Looking forward to that. I can beat the tap TMJ though, he's not even close. Taps in downstairs bog has dripped for 12 years. I tried many bodges, fitments and almost gave up. Last week found an adapter kit and today I fixed them - maybe!

@@CodgerBiker I would tell him but he will be upset that you've beaten his record. Can't wait for the fitting of the hand guards. Hopefully that will be a slightly shorter TMJ, but then again the longer it takes - the more entertaining it becomes!
