I just installed the exact same set of risers on my '22 CB500X. Perfect amount of rise with zero cable modifications as Codger mentions. I'm always surprised at how only 22mm of rise can make such a difference. Great upgrade.

I was looking for info about the CB500X and find your channel. Thanks for all your info around this bike already. Those SW-motech risers are on my list to. Also because of the TT navigation I wanted to mount between the handbar clamps and with the OEM bar cover this would not work. But what I also saw is that you mounted your TT on the small bar above your speedo. How dit you mount that? I now got a small ram mount for a phone holder above the speedo and thought a TT would be to heavy. Hope to hear from you. Thanks!

Sounds good. DrJ has those. He keeps encouraging me to do similar. I use a tailbag though for that, and camera batteries, pork pies etc. 👍👍

Hi Codger, when you’re a short runt like me (5’7” with a 29” leg) bar risers are a god send. Like you I fitted 20mm risers on my Street Scrambler and the Voight up & back on my Tiger 850 Sport (cockpit big enough for 6 footers). Both have made a world of difference to the riding comfort and standing position. 😊😊😊 10:08 How long did this TMJ take? My 20mm risers on the Street Scrambler took an hour once I realised I had to undo the bolts underneath first rather than the handlebar clamps. 😂😂😂
@CodgerBiker
@CodgerBiker Жыл бұрын
It's nice to be comfortable, even a small change helps I find. This job only took half an hour because there were no hidden nuts, like my 690 and your bike by the sound of it. Still not a TMJ though 😉😅👍

Any TMJ that takes more than 10 minutes is a TMJ. Anything less shows a complete lack of commitment. 😂😂😂

I see you still got your Amazon screen extender. I bought one and it made a big difference. Unfortunately I adjusted its position just one time too many and it went ‘floppy’ (insert own joke here) So I bit the bullet and invested in a Puig one. Massively overpriced but the minute you unbox it you can see the quality difference. Probably my favourite accessory and I wouldn’t be without it now !
@CodgerBiker

I'm a big fan of puig screens. The extender (£13 from eBay)does make a difference for me on motorways. As to the future... you never know 😉👍 Which did you get?

Going back to your tubeless 690wheels, did they make the rims airtight with a sealing kit or are they special rims with edge mounted spokes? I spoke to a leading wheel builder in Australia and they had never heard of tubeless 690 wheels
@CodgerBiker
@CodgerBiker Жыл бұрын
Check out SMPro in UK. Rims with correct double humps for tubeless tyres to keep them from coming off the rim. Bonded with their professionally applied Airtight System across the inside of the spokes, same method as used by KTM in their 890 Adv etc. I'm sure they'll be happy to sell you some - at a price

I'm used to them. They flip up when off-road, they also flip right out for highway riding. But they are small, it takes a bit of getting used to.

hello, excuse me a question: now with this change the handlebar has also approached you or is it just higher?
@CodgerBiker
@CodgerBiker 9 ай бұрын
Good question. The risers are only 20mm. So you can have 20mm higher, or tilt them towards you slightly which brings them a bit nearer. It's not much but it was good for me.

What torque to use on those 4 bolts? EDIT, I found 32Nm top/22 Nm bottom, but can be tighten by hand strongly too. Do you have small gap at bottom where risers connect? I also changed angle of handlebar little bit up and put these risers, the ride is so much better, seating straight, I am 184cm.
@CodgerBiker
@CodgerBiker Жыл бұрын
Yes there was a small gap. I tilted the bars just slightly back. I’m 175cm or so. Much more comfortable now. They’ve been fine for 2500 miles. Thanks for the comment it has reminded me to check them, but I am certain they’ll be fine. Good quality 👍

Where did you find those torque values? In my manual say the torque is 27Nm on all 4 bolts.
