Love this. For a few years i've been 'going to' learn Python as my first coding language.... if only I'd started already. But seeing some failure and success through your journey is motivating!

Sorry I missed your comment man! Yeah I pretty much learned Python in my First Smart Device project. Learning really any coding language helps a lot with learning the next. It's all about sequencing and order of operations. It's awesome to hear you're motivated by seeing the journey as that's my biggest goal with this series. To show that it doesn't go to plan, that learning is failing but pushing through the struggles. I hope you have great success with your future Python ventures! 😄🤙

As a teen i used Processing to make my first proper games with actual code, a big step up from Scratch. Processing will always hold a place in my heart

Loved this. I'm not a programmer, but I've recently been banging my head against a brick wall to create a mod in Paradox Script for one of their newer games. A lot of it is like your web socket connections problem. I often spend a long time failing to implement something only to learn it's not solvable with the method I've been trying. Ugh. Progress is happening, but slow. D:

Hey Yaktone! Sorry I missed this comment... but yeah mate it's a lot like that :( I was really really bummed out over the Leapmotion SDK and websocket issue, I remember earlier that day before the "breakthrough", I was sitting in a waiting room scrolling through the SDK source code on my phone hunting for something to stick out. The struggles can really consume your motivation but I really found dedicating time each day to the project helped. I could easily write off an hour as learning (failing) and then try again the next day. Most importantly I found doing only an hour each day gave 23 hours of unconscious problem solving (yeah I'm pretty sure I dreamt about this stuff lol). and so the "AHA" moments have time to surface when doing mundane tasks. I hope you've been able to breakthrough with that Paradox Script! 🤙

@@camshand loving the grab and go nature of the code snippets from the project! I’m a software developer who doesn’t dabble in personal projects, so your video unlocked a little block in my mind. I went like “oh, it’s okay to struggle with personal projects. On the surface it seems like it’s easy, just 24 lines, but there’s going to be 24 hours and 7 weeks of dedication and tears behind that. And that’s okay” Thanks!
