dmkice AHIMAs Coding Basics Program! I also have a video that covers AAPC vs AHIMA where I go over the main differences between the two and I cover their online programs. I liked AHIMA because PCS coding was taught in there and each course expires after 1 year so you don’t feel as rushed when going through the program!

May I suggest a future video about the whole process with earning your CEUs? Feel free to wait until you have accumulated some first. I enjoy your videos showing what your exam results look like on the site and the preparing for the exam videos.

I want to go through the process of signing up for a CEU credited course through AHIMA and how to add those CEUs onto your credential profile! I’ll start accumulating organizations that offer coding/HIM-related CEU courses/webinars/etc as a resource too!

Are the Webinars free pr are you required to pay for them? Have you heard any more on that actual coding job? You are lucky to have landed a job within an actual hospital so quickly even if it isn't actual coding. I've been looking and looking and of course most of the coding jobs aren't posted for outsiders to even look at. You have to be an "internal" applicant (meaning you have to already be working within the system to even see those jobs)

Phil Adams the webinars range in price, Ill be doing a monthly series talking about what CEUs I completed, how much they were, where I found them, etc! AHIMA offers coffee and coding once a month (0.5 CEUs) for free. The state chapters offer webinars (1 CEU) that are $25-35, and then AHIMA offers webinars (2 CEUs) for $99-$119. I haven’t searched outside of AHIMA for CEUs yet but I’ll keep you posted on other resources!

Yes the self review is every year and there is a fee to pay for it and the submitting of your Ceu hours is every 2 yrs and you will need to pay a fee as well .

Coding With Kate This past renewal I had to submit my CEU hours and the yearly self review exam which you will also be given a pass or fail score . I believe I ended up paying around $350. Years before it used to be a $50 fee for each renewal but this year it drastically went up . Yes take advantage of all of the FRee CEU courses offered through your employer so that you don’t end up paying for any CEU courses .

Coding With Kate thank you! I was originally going to take the CPC Exam, but I might do that in the future. I just got a new job (starting next week) as a medical biller. I know there is the medical billing certification (CPB) but some people are advising me to take the CCA....

Abigail m my application for a Coder 1 at a local hospital is still active, other than that there aren’t any openings that I’ve seen. I’m awaiting a reply from the coding supervisor at my hospital about volunteering/shadowing/training with the coders, I’ll make an update video when something happens!!!
