You mentioned coding things you use for practice. Can you list some resources for us? Im completely new to this, so some beginner stuff would be nice, but not necessary. Thanks!

Yay! You're back (talking about coding:). Been wondering how your job/career journey has been going. I am struggling with my job search as a newly credentialed (CCS) coder as well. However I joined an excellent FB group called JOBS for American Medical Coders. Large group with 22K followers. Finding it very helpful and encouraging. Update us on your progress if you can.

I'm on that FB page as well. I have my CPC-A and getting ready to take the CCS in the next few months. I am taking Pietro Ingrandes CCS prep class at the moment!

@@darleneramsey4475 Good luck! I took the CCS in September. You can do it! I know there is some dispute about it, but I honestly believe it is the better credential. It is tough to pass - I think it is meant to be so that it is that much more valuable to have. More job openings seem to be asking for it in my area of the country even for outpatient. Also does not come with the dreaded "A" after it.

@@emigliori1 Thank you! I am really nervous about it! I hope that I can pass it on the first try and not have to take it again. I have absolutely no experience other than school. I went to Andrews so was qualified by the education requirements to take the CCS but I am still a nervous wreck about it!

@@darleneramsey4475 Since you already have a CPC you have a large chunk of the info down. When I was studying I had no one to ask for tips etc. BUT I have a lot of them after taking the exam - specifically about "How" to take the exam. It is a different strategy than how you study for school or perform for work. When you are ready, PM me on the FB page through the JOBS for American Medical Coding page and I'll be happy to help. emigliori1 I actually recorder this video at the beginning of October and forgot to publish it haha! I haven’t had any success with a coding job (I’ve been denied coding AND billing positions so far) 😢 I’m working on a video on cancer registry (working through the courses, shadowing, etc) so idk when I’ll be finished with it!

I'm getting ready to take my CCA exam at Pearson. They mention an Authorization to Test Letter that is required before I can set up my reservation. Maybe this doesn't apply to the CCA certification cause it is such a low level certification? I haven't heard anybody else online even mentioning such a thing having to be done before testing.

Phil Adams you do need a letter for testing, it’s the very first step of setting up the CCA exam appointment. I believe I bring it up in my video on getting ready to take the CCA exam!
