Can you elaborate, the fact that so many people upvoted this comment means there's something to it, why is it so hard to diagnose and is it really that lethal
@ryansgirl20023 жыл бұрын
As a lifelong sufferer of kidney problems and too many infections to count, I have to say I don't know what you're talking about. Kidney infections are not hard to figure out. There are plenty of symptoms that increase over time- including but not limited to: pain in the lower/mid back, abdomen, during urination, blood in urine, chemical smell to urine, followed by frequent sensation of needing to urinate as the infection spreads thru the urinary tract, pain while urinating, decrease in actual output of urine, swelling especially in feet, hands, and ankles (my face and left side too, personally)...these symptoms progress over time, sometimes a looong time depending (assuming you don't see a Dr, I've gone upwards of 4-5 months before treatment because I'm a stubborn idiot) and then the fever hits. I ignored an infection like a fool a few years ago and it ultimately spread, I got dehydrated. Raging fever of 105, incoherent from fever and dehydration and still did not die. I was released from the e.r. after a few hours of IV fluids and massive doses antibiotics for a month+. To diagnose is a simple urine test- piss in a cup and In a few minutes they know what's up. Blood work too. Most people are much easier to treat than me because I'm allergic to all the usually prescribed medications. I have never heard of anyone dying from a kidney infection. Maybe WITH a kidney infection amongst other things, but not just that. I mean, it's possible I suppose but chances are anyone with half a brain cell is going to the doctor before it comes anywhere near death because the symptoms get too severe to ignore. You'd have to be stranded on a deserted island and suffer for a very long time before death would consume you if you were otherwise in reasonably normal shape with a reasonably normal immune system. Repeated infections left untreated can lead to kidney failure over time and if both kidneys failed one would have to be on dialysis until a transplant could be arranged. I well know about dialysis and transplants, too, because my aunt and cousin spent decades on dialysis and both received and ultimately lost transplanted kidneys. Both are now deceased. Neither of their issues stemmed from multiple chronic kidney infections, one was born with polycystic kidney disease and the other had caught tuberculosis when my grandpa came back from WW2 and it attacked her kidneys.
@Indianaparadise3 жыл бұрын
I’ve know a couple people who have had kidney infections turn into meningitis. One of which was in a coma for 2 weeks. I’ve had kidney issues my whole life that caused vomiting and fainting lethargy etc.I had a severe sinus infection that was so close to causing a brain infection they put me on an antibiotic that can cause horrible side effects like Achilles’ tendon breaking. On the 4th day, I got back on a spin bike and was dizzy as hell but gutted through a half hour and drank a quart of pedialyte. I felt like shit but did this for a week and came out the other end fairly normal. My strength is back to pre-Covid but I have a weird heartbeat when I first start exercising and when I lay down to sleep. It hits people differently and I feel very lucky.
