Amellia makes the perfect face. man that cracked me up. lovely is right. lol That steering knuckle will last for a three hundred years, easy, lol I was a welder fitter for most of my life I use to build zoom booms and Structural steel beams for high rises and factories, junction boxes that were used for under the ocean for fiber optic cables and I built a welding table for Austin mini the second generation in the early 90's and a huge variety of other projects. Got injured at work and now I sit in front of a computer all day and watch my favorite channels fabricate things I use to love to build. Miss those days bigtime.

Super progess on the truck. How about an electric cab tilter on a lead screw as a backup? Hydraulic only can be frustrating when there are issues. Have fun in Vegas! 👍 😃
@stevesimons6333 Жыл бұрын
What you need is the tilt cylinder and pump from a late 70's to early 80's Freightliner COE. It will pump up and pump down the cab. Check it out. I have a new set somewhere. It would take a lot of digging because we are doing a huge remodel so finding a set in a truck wrecking yard would be easiest.

Just a thought, when you go to raise the cab open the doors. When I was working in fleet maintenance we had a couple of Ford COE’s and that’s what we did to reduce the weight of the rear of the cab when raising it. You guys are great, I watch both channels and can’t get enough. I use a lot of what I see when working on my street rod.

I love this collab, intros too. Two perspectives in one build. I look forward to your videos, its motovational! Sadly its minus 1000 and too cold to play in my storage building. Man, the steering arm is beefy! No such thing as overkill when it comes to steering.
@ericdolan2130 Жыл бұрын
Great video. One suggestion. On the heavier pieces such as this you might consider going over to spray. You would need to switch to something like 90 / 10 gas, and run around 24 to 28 volts / 460 IPM (for .035") But the cost would be more than offset by a superior weld penetration, better looking welds, and far less spatter to clean up. Cheers!

I did a little Autocad work years ago, and I am amazed at how quickly you can use it to fab parts. I know when I fab something, it first has to be done in my head to give me an idea if it will be workable. Probably where I get into the most trouble. You seem to be able to have not only a better vision of what is needed, but the skills to make it work, and work correctly. It is so cool to see you go from an idea to a working sub-system while keeping everything else that needs to be done in mind. Thanks for your videos, it makes me want to fab another project as you know as well as anybody how satisfying it is to make it come together.

Hey Carl! I'm going to subscribe because I like how you work and keep your shop clean. Maybe you could share why you have 2 lifts positiones the way they are? IMHO I would have kept the chassis with the cab and built from there. You could still use any power plant you want. I spent 4+ decades working on heavy trucks and construction equipment. It's your story, so you tell it. I like your work!!

Carl, who am I to tell you anything? You lay down the kinda weld a fly couldn't land on. But, you're always thinking like a welder. A properly placed bend can eliminate a couple welds. The less joints, the better. Keep it up; your videos are among the few worth watching.

Nice one Karl!!! Check out Ballistic Fab. They have bungs for one ton tie rod ends to DOM. You may be able to make them and use a left and right 1 ton TRE and DOM for the push pull link. Just an idea. Or make a longer collar for the link that is for the chassis from those bungs and DOM.

Hay Carl build is coming along nicely 👍 The D series ford cab had coil springs under it to take most of the weight to help raise and lower cab looking at yours it would be easy enough to do the same just do a google search Or you could just get a hydraulic ram at the Weckers off a semi

I’ve been working a lot lately so have not been able to tune in. Like it so far. I would of made a cab lift first. Maybe a shock so she doesn’t slam down. Cause that could be an accident waiting. I have seen these trucks and thought the same thing. Would make a great car hauler. I like how you make sterling arm brackets solid.
