Sadly your feeling as well as my hope that ALL followers will be able to appreciate it going forward will not be the case since LDS leadership has seen fit to ban everybody without a Mormon temple recommend (which was NEVER in the original restoration doctrine) after 15 years has expired.
@Calvin_Barnes7 ай бұрын
@@bethanydee1920 That's actually not true. They signed a contract that expires in 15 years, but the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints intends to keep it open to the public even after the contractual agreement ends. That's according to this quote I found on your church's website: "We have a specific contractual agreement with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that extends for fifteen years. Beyond the contractual agreement we have received confirmation of the intention of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that they plan to continue to make these sites available to the public at no charge." I do hope that helps with your concerns, and I wish you the best.

What is your source for the claim that the LDS church will "ban everybody with a Mormon temple recommend...after 15 years has expired?" I have searched and cannot find a source for it anywhere. I can understand your passion for this, if it were true.@@bethanydee1920

Are you thankful enough to insist that your leadership continue to allow Community of Christ members in without their temple recommend (which was NEVER part of the original restoration doctrine) after 15 years has expired? Because right now we'll be banned. And if you're not that thankful then why would any CofC member care whether you're thankful or not? I don't mean this as an insult. It's a sincere question because what possible fostering of brotherhood could this mean to you if the situation was reversed?
@TLMcRae-uu1cz7 ай бұрын
@@bethanydee1920 I very much doubt that a temple recommend will be required to enter the Kirtland Temple. It will most likely continue to be an historical site available for everyone to visit.

My wife and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We visited the Kirtland Temple seven or eight years years ago while driving from Springville, Utah to the east coast. Debbie and I were greatly impressed by the condition the Kirtland Temple was in. We were most thankful that the Community of Christ took such great care of the original temple built by the early members of the members of our Church. One of the most moving moments of my life was when the folks on our tour, under the direction of the Community of Christ volunteer, led all of us in singing The Spirit of God. I will never forget that day! Thank you very being such wonderful caretakers of the Kirtland Temple! Andy McKane, 8 March 2024, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.

T.thompson, as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I admit that I have not thought often about the Community of Christ Church, although I grew up knowing your church as the RLDS church. Only in the last few years after moving to Missouri and taking the opportunity to travel to sacred church sites have I begun to learn a little more about your church. I would just like to tell you that while I rejoice in the news that we were able to acquire these properties, my heart goes out to the members of your church who are mourning the loss of these sacred places. Should a similar thing have happened to us, I know that my heart would be broken as well. I hope that knowing that these buildings will be honored and preserved with our stewardship, you will feel some peace. I would hope that through this purchase your church will be blessed with the influx of needed funds, but also blessed with a Brother and Sisterhood with your "cousins" in my church. May we all love one another with our united purpose of following the Savior and in preserving these sacred sites built by our ancestors (of which many are my relatives as well). We, the LDS members, can't express enough the gratitude we have for the stewardship your church has had over these landmarks. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I do not view this as a win; for I do not view this transaction as competition of any kind. Frankly, I was rather shocked to read of this transaction between our two Churches. I had no idea that anything like this was going on. I've read the joint release of the two Churches about the transaction, and both sides expressed pleasure in going forward, each in their own way. So, from that perspective, I guess you could say that it is a win-win situation (still not a competition). I'm sure our Church will take every bit as good care of the temple, other buildings and lots in both Kirtland and Nauvoo as your Church has done for so long, as well as with all the sacred documents. Thanks to the Community of Christ, and before that, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for taking such good care of these edifices, lots and documents. May God be with us all in these last days, which will be upon us in full force in the not-to-distant future with all that is mentioned in the Book of Revelation; for those days will surely come, and they won't be pleasant.But the Lord has promised he will be with his people, who are those who love him. ♥♥♥
