The truth about Horizon Plantations. It is part of the giant conglomerate MIDROC which is a privately owned company by Sheik Muhammed Hussein Al Amoudi. It's holdings include 70% of Ethiopian National Oil, a huge gold mine, steel production, construction, cement, etc, etc. They have little care for the environment and even less for those Ethiopian workers. You are better off to buy your coffee from a roasting company that gets their coffee beans from the more than a thousand independent Ethiopian farmers, where the little communities are local co-ops and aren't exploited, and are a part of Fair Trade practices.

The average cup of coffee contains 0.45 μg of acrylamide (a cancer causing chemical). This is more than double the safe harbor limits for Proposition 65.
@whlewis9164 Жыл бұрын
Interesting, but I think the jury is still out on dietary acrylamide effect on humans and at what levels of ingestion. There are however, several studies exploring coffee consumption with extended life expectancy. The field of dietary studies for humans is frought with incomplete and seemingly bad science these days.
