Is this 1967 Mustang Fastback cooler AND more significant than McQueen's Bullitt? You'll have to watch and let me know in the comments below. I sure think it is.
Yes, I love these cars but man do I love the stories behind these cars just as much as the car themselves sometimes.

I spoke to my uncle Joe who was with special operations in South Vietnam from 66 to 69 and 70 to 73 he was their logistics officer. He said he knew of the car in fact he knew of 2 fords and 1 Dodge and possibly a Cadillac. He thinks they were not owned by US Military personnel they were bought by US Military but they were in fact gifts from a The US Military to a High ranking Government official. (He thinks the Mayor of Saigon) was 1 of the officials. He is going to allow me to look through his 3 boxes of pictures he has of his time there. He thought one was British racing green and one was either dark blue or possibly black. The Dodge was white. He said the reason he can remember them is because my aunt had just bought a new one and they stood out like a white dot on a black back ground given all what people were driving.

Since then I did a little more research on them and processed the info you were speaking between all your rude know it all attitude. @Buffalo Soldier why ? Where would the tags identifying it as a South Nam car come from with all the correct numbers ? Anything can be faked I guess but would the point be ? It says mustang on it know where it has been verified by Ford that it was sold in Nam as a T5 so not sure how or why it would be a fake ? It's not possible that 2 T5's or more could have been sold to our boys over there ?

@jasonsparshott7208
@jasonsparshott7208 3 жыл бұрын
@Studentofsweetscience yes I would like to see pictures and any evidence that's shows this T5 was never in Nam . Stories are stories but you can't disprove anything that's been said about this car ! It was verified through Ford that it was delivered to south Nam so I don't understand why you insist it's fake ? You yourself just stated that thousands of us cars and trucks were shipped overseas so why does there have to be only 1 T5 that ever went to and was driven in Nam ? That in its self is enough evidence to me saying you must have direct interest in the other T5 you speak and want to make this other T5 a fake ? You have know prof and no way to prove this car wasnt in Nam . Ford verified it and that's enough for me to strongly believe this car to have gone too and come back from Nam . How can you be so closed minded and sure of yourself about this ?
@jasonsparshott7208
@jasonsparshott7208 3 жыл бұрын
@Studentofsweetscience when did I call you a liar ? And why would you want to humiliate me ? I've done nothing to you but have a debate with you about why you insist this car is a fake !! I'm not into all the troll I know more then you bullshit . I like knowledge plain and simple if you can enlighten me on what you must know and I don't then please do ! I will listen and intake any and all information! I'm a problem solver by trade and personality I have only asked you why you are 100% sure this car isn't legit dude . Until I'm shone prof that clearly makes this car a fake I'm sticking with what has been said by Ford ! This TR was delivered to south Nam I'm not saying that this car was owned by the 2 officers he told us about I'm simply saying that the car was indeed delivered and driven by some one weather armed forces or John Q general public in south Nam ! ! That's all I've ever said ! So if you think shedding light on this particular car will humiliate me then so be it ! I never claimed to be a exported vehicle expert in fact your correct I don't know much at all about them . But I do believe this car went to Nam and came back to the states SOMEHOW !!! Damn man make a mountain out of a mole hill because you say something is one way with out showing or telling any reasoning or material that supports you ! I don't know you at all if I did then maybe I wouldn't have needed to ask because I would already know if or if not you were the export vehicle Guru !!

Awesome car with an amazing story! Personally, I’m not a big fan of ford anything! However, the mid-sixties Fairlane, and Galaxie’s are two of my favorite cars ever produced! I’m sure, it has something to do with them being similar to in size and shape as my personal favorite which is the Chevrolet Chelleve! I have had the pleasure of owning a few over the years and since my junior year in ‘92 I’ve owned a 1965 Chelleve, and just like your 66 Galaxie the Chelleve is also, a big bone full figured Ol’ Girl too!

I am an Army Vet. Served in Desert Storm and Somalia, Those who served our great country during the Vietnam War were the inspiration for me to join. They were heros to me then and still are. I am also a huge Ford fan, having myself, a 2000 F250 superduty crew cab V10 with 8"lift and 38s, which is a work in progress, of course Mustang is AWESOME and this one is EPIC!! I'd say restore it, don't customize but, beef up the motor, exhaust and for the paint job, MILITARY OD GREEN. A balance between the K pots, helos and vehicles of the time. Then wrap the rear end in "tiger- flage" refer to LRRP (long range recon. patrol members) uniforms of the era. Gotta have a Vietnam front plate. (Campaign ribbon with a helicopter on it). And auction yes, not sure what's in your area for veterans services, definitely for that or a national one. Looking forward to the history behind this car. Hopefully you get some great leads. I saw the Bullitt car last year. It was on loan to the Smithsonian and put on display for a month on the National Mall in DC. They had it in a glass case outside with a 24 hr armed guard. It was a daily driver for a guy in NJ for years and is unrestored complete with rust. For years, the family that used it as a daily driver didn't realize what they had. That car you have is a survivor and should be left as is like the Bullitt car, just make sure it's gone thru and made mechanically sound. Its history will sell it very quickly, I'm sure some Stang collector would loooove to have it in its present form.

That car in this video has been Re-painted. thus it is NOT a 'survivor', the transmission swap and other modifications done take away that title.

Steve McQueen is like the actor whom played ‘The Man’, where as this guy... He was ‘The Man’, the man that Steve McQueen may have gone on to play. Fantastic back story and amazing car I’m doing a lot of research about Bletchley Park and the breaking of the Enigma code, it’s so important to remember modern military history 1910 onwards and the efforts of those involved. Too much has been left unsaid, too much of what we are not aware of, and too many current day options are based on flawed information and agendas

Steve McQueen was The Man. He was a Marine, rebellious at times but ultimately being highly decorated. A true race car driver, he not only acted in but produced and directed movies. He did his own stunt driving and raced motorcycles. McQueen would have literally ran circles around whoever this rich boy, Major Mustang Sally was.

What an amazing car!! Thank you Dennis for thinking of our Vets first. I would love for the car to be completely restore. I did notice some surface rust on it and why give it away with rust. Now I know you will restore this car with your own money without given it any thought. Another idea is to start a fundraiser and have our country come together and help raise more money for our troops. At the end the money raise will go to charity along with the earning from the car. Blessing for you, staff and family. Ps!! Maybe Tricky Ricky can help out too.
