It's great to see someone who's willing to answer questions concerning FH's, procedures, & death in the U.S. I was curious about it since I was a kid & was given answers to questions that didn't add up in my head. I've heard so many stories which were too incredible, so I went to school & worked in the death industry in order to find out what really goes on behind the curtain. All of my questions were answered correctly & there is no magic behind the curtain-just an incredible amount of work at creating an optical illusion bringing closure to families. You're doing a great job!!

Hey Kari! First of all, I can't believe you have been doing videos for 5 years, I think I've seen them all. They have been helpful in so many ways. Next, your beautiful girls are growing so fast! I love to see them popping in on you, they are so sweet!! Ok, my brother has been a morgue assistant and pathology assistant for many years and a few different hospitals. His duties have ranged from assisting with the autopsies(which he loves) moving the bodies, assisting with tissue sample collection from organs, making slides, weighing organs, taking toxicology samples, prepping the deceased and cleaning up after the autopsy. If no autopsies, he looks at surgical specimens to make sure margins are clear or not, and whether malignant or benign..... He is also teaching interns the diseases of the brain...from brain material that he has prepared. He had one with MS lesions, having MS it was really cool to see!! The worst part of his job is seeing children, from preterm babies on up. He loves what he does. I love the stories...lol. Just thought I'd share that and say hi! --Pat

Funny how your videos inspire memories. My brother in law used to have a window and house cleaning business and I helped him out a few times. I recall one house we worked in that had a breezeway between the house and garage. According to the resident, a family member had passed and was found sitting in a chair in the breezeway. There was a definite odor of decomposition within this breezeway. Supposedly, the person had passed several months previously, but the odor remained.

They said they think the FD got overwhelmed and of course the AC was off. But the investigation is on going.

When my uncle passed my cousins went looking for a container for his ashes. They came home with a ceramic canister that was the size of what you would put tea bags in. They got it at Goodwill. ( My uncle would find that hilarious) when I saw the size of the container I said you have to be kidding. Those ashes are not going to fit. Of course they said we will see. Well I was right. On the topic of cremated remains- the country you’re talking about is Japan. They consider bones that are intact after cremation to be a sign of good luck and proof that the person lived a good life so after the cremation they won’t break down larger bone fragments. I was told that in the US it’s illegal for bone fragments to be left intact enough to be recognizable and so larger pieces are either processed again, broken down by hand (usually the case for infants) and/or tapping them out (which is a nicer way of saying the bag is wrapped in a towel and tapped with a hammer or small weight). Usually it’s the more dense bones like the skull, femur, and pelvis that remain decently intact. We had a case where a gentleman’s skull was SO pristine after cremation you could still see his facial features, like you could look at his skull and still recognize him.

When my aunt passed a good from of hers put a golf ball in the casket at visitation. Then when my mom passed I had them put a book in her hands she was an avid reader. Also my nephew had did a dot picture in art in HS of John Wayne and he put that in the casket with his Grandma Dorothy. It was his Senior year and Grandma Dorothy died before he graduated. My mom always loved John Wayne and she always said he could put his boots under her bed anytime. Of course that never happened but at least a picture of him was buried with her.

Kari, my brother passed away at the end of March. His funeral was scheduled to be buried on good Friday. Funeral was pre-arranged everything paid for. 30 minutes before the funeral his grave hadn't been opened. When I asked that sent someone to take care of it. We had picked special ornaments trim for the coffin. When I noticed this I went and asked about the trim. I was told that they were waiting on them to be delivered by ups. ups showed up as the preacher started the service the funeral director brings in the trim and add it to his coffin. When we got to the grave site. The grave was open. The coffin was placed over the grave. The preacher said a few words. We felt like we were being rushed. His headstone was already placed, he was placed in his grave his feet was at his headstone. Before we were able to to leave the grave yard they had already lowered him and was putting the last bit of dirt over the grave. I've never seen this happen. Was I wrong to be upset with this services.

Being a holiday sometimes people get in a rush because they have personal lives also and want to be with their families. We don't want that ever to come through in our work but it definitely does especially with the staff at cemeteries.

Hi Kari I have a question? What happens when you are a receiving funeral home and you get a body that was shot and hung it was documented suicide on the death certificate with no ME signature, I apprentice under a freelance embalmer and I felt like I was throwing away evidence that should’ve been collected our funeral home the receiving one was 3 1/2 hours away from the county to which this person died what do you do then?

@@KaritheMortician That has to be very tragic 😢for it to happen in the same 👪family in one day. How do Morticians handle mass shooting related murders like in Texas School Massacre of 21 people shot dead? That has to be very overwhelming, and tragic 😔? A funeral home across from a elementary school to see the tragic experience. Morticians are people like everyone else. We all live, try our best in life, have our goals or dreams, and onwards. Everyone has their happy 😊and sad 😥moments in life. Then eventually for most funerals it's usually the elderly who died of old age or natural causes, however when death caused by unnatural causes such an accidental related, murder, or suicide happens all the time. Originally people were not supposed to die. That is why the Resurrection Hope at John 5:28-29, Revelation 21:1-5. Knowing that Adam and Eve at Genesis Chapter 3:1-5. Death is unnatural in the Biblical way of knowledge. From the time we are born we slowly start to die. Why? As we grow older and age.

Those being transported by “coyotes” (term for human traffickers and an insult to coyotes) in that truck (count 53?) must’ve suffered horribly and died such painful deaths- trying to get to a better life and ended up losing what lives they had. I read that the traffickers transported them without AC or water- their bodies were reportedly HOT to the touch and I cannot imagine the smell, TRAGIC & SENSELESS😔.
