I know family whose mom died at an inconvenient time, and they went on a planned vacation anyway. Then they held the funeral. I couldn’t believe it. It also blows my mind how people pose for photos and smile, standing in front of the casket at the grave site. This is so common where I live. I think it’s so tacky.

The tanning bed blew my mind. I live in Phoenix so I know more of that story. She clocked in on Friday morning and they found her Monday or Tuesday. Most of the employees were working from home and she was in a cubicle in an area where nobody else was working. She was also single. It was still sad.

The Wells Fargo lady should have had a badge to scan to get in the building. Security should have noticed that she didn’t leave.

@ it says she did scan in. I guess it’s more of a time keeping thing for payroll maybe. They work many shifts so the building may not ever be empty.

My father works for a major Wells Fargo location, though a different location than the location where the referenced incident occurred. It should be noted the woman found dead in August at the Arizona WF location was seated in an underpopulated area -- that is, not an area of "constant motion" or "constant employees" to notice anything amiss. With many employees now remote, when my father ventures into his WF office a few days per week, it is not uncommon for him to be greeted by a yawning floor of empty cubicles 6' high and not encounter another soul for the duration of his workday; such is the way of things since a certain plague ushered in more distance. Considering these details, what is truly sad and surprising to me is not so much that remote co-workers didn't notice her, but that her family appears not to have noticed her, either.

HA! That’s Wells Fargo for you! I worked a Temp job at the Wells Fargo Bldg. In Downtown Salt Lake City. And my Supervisor there that I got STUCK WITH, was terrified to sit by the window. ( the office took up the 22 floor of the bldg!) and she was afraid of heights. She also felt threatened by me, and it happened to be by birthday, my friend’s were driving down from Ogden to take me to lunch. It was approved by the temp agency. This WOMAN, actually called the entire floor of the dept. I was assigned to, over the intercom, and said, “I think we need to take a vote! Should we let Kathy go out for her birthday lunch? Or should we have her carry boxes to the executive floor, for her to file?!” 🙄 (I have never felt so homicidal in my life!). No happy birthday, yes, the stupid 🦇 was overruled. I went to lunch with my friends, got back, and had to work with the 🦇 s buddy! But She wouldn’t let me do anything. Told me i didn’t know what I was doing, yet the bat 🦇 came back and said I had idle hands. I really wanted to push that tall woman up towards the plate glass window and make her look down. Anyway, on my 45 min commute home in rush hour traffic to meet my family for my SECOND MEAL of the day, I got a call from the temp agency, saying I didn’t need to bother showing up at work at Wells Fargo the next day. I wasn’t a good employee for them! “What about the $90 bus pass I just paid for on my way home?! (Angry as hell!) Well I’m sorry! Not our problem! So I cried all through my birthday dinner, and it’s coming up next Saturday, and it will be 20 years since I set foot in that bldg. oh and I closed out my Wells Fargo Accts. The next day! They don’t CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES! And will walk all over any temporary employees!!

So I wanted to share with you on how I made the whole house go silent when my Dad was in his final hours and my uncle was just trying to be helpful. MyDad would never discuss with my Mom because it would upset her on which funeral home to use when he passed. He discussed it with me at a random time while he was in his final weeks battling cancer. He said to me I need to have a serious conversation with you about who I want to handle things after I pass, because I’m pretty sure she will want to use the funeral home that handled her parents funerals, nothing against them it is a lovely place and great people, but they are not big enough to handle the amount of people who will be coming. I don’t want that . ( Dad was a career firefighter and knew a lot of people) He wanted so and so to handle his arrangements. He told me also one of his friends worked there and Moms high school friend and husband own it so that should be enough to convince her to go with them. The morning of the day dad passed we had a ton of people over at her house and my uncle asked my mom if he should call so and so funeral home to give them a heads up to be expecting a call from Dads Hospice provider, and also to go to the cemetery and see what plots were available for sale. Mom said yes. I had to speak up and looked at my uncle and Mom and asked for that topic to be put on the back burner until my mom, siblings and I had a private discussion about who dad wanted to handle his arrangements. The whole house went dead silent because Dad had talked to no one about it even my Mom. My Mom just looked at me and said he wants so and so to handle it doesn’t he and I was like yes. My Uncle was a little taken aback by that but was like I will make that phone call then. But my uncle was actually concerned about the other one because of it’s size as well. In the end it was what Dad wanted we actually chose the cemetery that the funeral home owned as well to get plots at as well because we were able to get a total of 11 plots for the cost of what it would have cost for plots for just mom and dad, at the other cemetery in town. And we liked their cemetery better. I appreciate your content and have the utmost respect for your industry. You are truly a godsend for people in their time of sadness . With great people like you out there you make a tough few days a little easier.

I lost my baby sister a few weeks ago she was cremated and her ashes where in a very nice urn. An they put ashes in small containers for the family to have. So I now know what a event center that spring Grove cemetery had. And yes the event center is nice. Her funeral was very nice. I got to say goodbye to her. I am glad I got to say goodbye. I didn't think I will ever get over it I am learning to live with it

My mom died late in 2020. I ended up having a Zoom service about a month later in mid January 2021. Partly, that was due to a slow process with the coroner's office and trying to work around my minister's schedule. I had a very difficult relationship with my mom and I am actually really glad that I had that little bit of time and space to process before I had to sit down and write a eulogy.

It’s never convenient for death, when my dad died in 2015, it was a few weeks before Christmas. It was very sad to loose someone anytime of the year but especially near the holidays

Death is an event no one can escape although some families will delay having to face the process of grief & bereavement until it's convenient for them. During my career I've noticed families would delay making funeral arrangements until after the holidays. After which there've been backlogs & bottlenecking during January because many want funeral services held on Saturdays and would pay steep upcharges. January is a very busy month for FH's, crematories, & cemeteries as the death natural rate increases during Winter months.

Hey Kari I have a good one for you. I worked in a very popular casino in Southern Califoria for 17yrs and thought I had seen it all until this happened. I was working the 10:am to 6:00pm shift. Went into the service bar for our morning pep talk then headed upstairs to the service bar to prepare my tray. I went into my area to serve drinks when I saw an elderly man slopped over in his set. That didn't alarm me because some folks play all night and some will fall asleep in the chairs. I walked over to him getting ready to wake him up and there was no waking this gentleman up. He was white as a ghost and cold as an ice cube. It took everything in me to keep it together. I immediately got an officer and they took care of the situation. I was so damn angry that no one noticed his condition. My God how long was the man dead and no one even noticed or took the time to check him out not even the cocktail waitress that I relieved said nothing! And come to find out his wife was downstairs gambling the whole time and never checked on him!! WTH is wrong with people today? Nobody gives a 💩 about anyone except themselves!!😢 Very sad and disgusting world this has become.

Are we sure these two events actually happened? That's bizarre. Makes me think about Weekend at Bernie's. My uncle told the FH ... I'm going on vacation. If mom dies while I'm gone, just put her on ice and I'll deal with it when I get back. Sure enough, grandma died. This was way before cell phones. I don't remember if he was able to be contacted while gone. I was divorced from an abusive man in 2002. I hate checking boxes for years that say divorced. Why do they even do that? It can hurt to wear that label. I didn't have children and took my maiden name back.
