To correct a misunderstanding on Islam: Capital punishment in Islam cannot be carried out independent from the court system in a Sharia-governed country. The Sharia's criminal justice system includes capital punishment for seditious apostate citizens that don't keep their apostasy private. After a case is brought to court and they self admit to it, they're imprisoned for 3 days and told to go private, after which they are released. If they insist on publicizing their apostasy and dying a martyr to their beliefs, the capital punishment is carried out.

All you said in the second part of the video is false. The penalty for apostasy in Islam is administrated exactly same as you described in Christianity. Only one that can execute punishment is Muslim ruler of the Muslim country. All main school of thought will say that. All other instances where individuals or groups executed apostates, was not according to sharia or Islamic rulings. It have to go through court, otherwise it's crime. And when you said that Islam gain power through violence rather then conviction. How do you think they gained enough numbers in army to begin with any conquest and stuff. Prophet Muhammad faced persecution through first 13 years of his prophethood in Mecca giving dawah. Islam spread his political influence through war, as any other empire but Islam is strictly against forced conversions, it's in the Quran. I don't saying it never happened, but it's not allowed according to Islamic scripture. Christianity on other hand... You can think for yourself, how Christianity get to South America, Africa, and so on.... I give you hint , it was not through peaceful conversions.

Zakat is alms-giving to the poor, one of the Pillars of Islam, for taking care of them and is set aside for that purpose, and a Muslim who cannot pay the zakat is a recipient thereof and does not need to pay, for all the Dhimmi living in Islamic society, the Jizya was not given to the poor, it was collected directly by the state and used more like how taxes in a modern context were used, or how wealthier Muslims's waqf payments were used. Also, poverty didn't keep Dhimmi from paying the Jizya like the zakat, they were still obligated, and many Caliphs, backed by their jurists, kept groups from conversion in order to use the taxes levied from non-Muslim subjects for the purposes of state. I don't know if they were better or worse than today, but not the same, and not for the same purpose.

@@arethmaran1279 Did you know Zakat comes in two types? Zakat ul Mal and Zakat ul Fitr. The first difference between Zakat and Zakat ul Fitr is eligibility. All Muslims, who have enough food for a day, must pay Zakat ul Fitr (otherwise known as Fitrana) regardless of their age or financial status.

Brother Deuteronomy 13 is not simply "Leaving the faith" its enticing others to go and worship other gods and making sacrifices to them. Which included burning children in the fire. It's not as simple we have a whole court system which includes witnesses, jurisdiction and etc. This requires knowledge in fiqh, but generally we both can agree that capital punishment being applied for apostasy is not immoral.

Anyways no where in the passage does it mention that it was to sacrifice their children to Gods and this punishment is specifically for thy mother, thy friend, daughter, wife, son. Also one of the main reasons apostasy is punishable by death is because it causes a rebellion or war to form and makes apostasy widespread leading to idoltary and other practises, Hence I agree with the bible in this matter. This is also the same with Islam in which capital punishment is applied on apostasy as a means to remove any rebellion or war from forming. 'But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.' Also mentions that the apostate should be put to death, so clearly I don't see a major difference.

In Matthew 16:18 it says, “You are Peter; and on this rock my congregation will build.” From this the Catholic Church derives the office of the Pope and also the thesis that Jesus wanted to build the church on Peter. Bible passage(s): Matthew 16:18,19 Peter is “Petros” in Greek, while rock is “Petra”. Petros means: a stone, a piece of a rock. Petra is the rock itself. What verse 19 says has nothing to do with the church, but with the kingdom of heaven. You don't build with keys, you unlock things with them. God also wanted to acknowledge what would bind Peter here, i.e. when he refused to admit anyone, for example. The Muslim in the debate clearly stated that this would apply only in a Islamic state and only going to through a court system and applied to individuals who are equated to treason. The poison didn't kill him, he got healed from it, just because he felt some pain in his aorta doesn't mean the poison killed him it's like if somebody's arm gets broken, he goes to a docter and gets it fixed then 3 years later that person can still feel some pain in his arm even tho his arm works perfectly. This is literally in Our Creed too which is it starts with “I believe in One God the Father almighty”. I'm not sure how saying that God is one person means that he has "no word or thought". The Father is the most powerful divine being in existence, and he doesn't *need* anyone in order to have thoughts. A "mysterious", and "impossible-to-understand" triune God full of many contradictions is much more of an "impersonal God" than a God that is a singular Almighty person that you can understand. Jesus obviously did not believe he was God if he said, "...Believe in God; believe also in me" (John 14:1), and that he *had to be given* the Revelation by God in Revelation 1:1 even long after he was exalted and given all authority in heaven and on earth.

I've been watching many of your videos so I wasn't surprised by your honestly. Robert Spencer said modern Catholicism became too lukewarm on Islam (it is true that many priests became religious relativists after Vatican II) but I guess he would also have a lot of problems with pre-Vatican II texts condemning religious freedom as we know it today (the Fourth Lateran council, 'Exsurge Domine' and 'Mirari Vos' to name a few). Catholicism never condoned forced conversions but always advocated (before the modern era) for the repression of persistent public heretics by the State.

Not necessarily lukewarm, but as catholics, we are willing to acknowledge the truths that Islam has and "profess" to hold the same God in the same vein as jews. But otherwise, miss the target and misunderstand God. However, that is far from being indifferent towards other religions or islam. In any case, if one recognizes that the Catholic Church holds the fullness of truth but refuse to enter it for whatever reason, then ya, that's pretty bad. Either Jake (Muslim guy) doesn't understand Christianity or he ia purposely being dishonest to defend his (Islams) position on this. But watching the full podcast he showed he know so much so I would have to say he is being purposely dishonest. He wants to act like Christianity is just the old testament and that the new testament doesn't exist. Which is so irnoic becauee without the new testament, the religion is basically just Judaism and the whole reason Muslims like these and even in the Qur'an have respect for Christianity and not Judaism is because of the new testament beliefs. They also tried to say by ignoeing the old testament they are "throwing their religion under a bus" yet Muslims believe the old testament to be true and the word of God (courrpted) but yet they don't follow all of its beleifs when its contradicted by the more recent prophet of Mohammed. And hold the Qur'an as the final word. But this is exactly the same with Chrsirians, Jesus is the final proohet and his word will be taken over all others. My final point on this is that the Bible (New Testament) literally talks about the contradictions between and the new and old testament but again he either doesn't no or more likely ignores this because it destorys his nareative.
