I had a 9N back 25 yr ago and kept fiddling with the ignition without success. I had a garage mechanic, I ask him if he could convert from 6v to 12v and upgrade the ignition. It took about two hours to convert, after that I never had a problem getting it to start again. Jason you won't regret the. expense in the end...

I realize I am commenting before the video. I really need to share the following concerning the calf that passed away. First thank the dear Lord that the neighbor called you. I began to obsess over that sweet calf laying there on the hill and why didn’t your neighbor called sooner since the calf was born on Tuesday. His mother had died. I know the neighbor was under the weather. Anyway what finally enabled me to let go is what Jason said. We saved him from dying on that cold hill with a storm coming. The little guy had a warm bed with a heater and surrounded by folks who loved and cared for him until he passed away. Including Dr. D. The Cog Hill family is always in my prayers. A video that I go to to cheer me up is Matilda playing also the video of Pocket having the zoomies and running back in the barn to wake Peaches up!!😍😍

I currently cook only in/on cast iron. I'm 73 and a few pieces I got for our wedding in 1972. Other pieces I use were my MIL's and HER mother's cast iron pans. That means I regularly use cast iron pans that are over 125 years old! The older pans were cleaned and re-seasoned in the 80's. I take care of my pans and they have never needed re-seasoning other than that. Great pans!

My mother passed in 1997. My sister and I split all of her cast iron . I got her cornbread ear ,and her largest skillet. My sister got her Dutch oven and 2 skillets small and medium. But my best find out in the pasture was a cracked Dutch oven I took and had black Smith weld it between the frame of my great grandmother wheel plow. He put 3 leg so it wouldn't tip over. Satin black paint. Panses Johnnie jump up in fall spring and moss roses in summer. Generations are at my home. Mom/ Shirley and great grandmother/ willy mae. Memories saved

You know what I learned! A easy way to burn all that stuff off of your cast iron pots and pan is to put them in your self cleaning oven when you clean your oven and it will burn off all the rust, old grease and everything! It took my pots and pans back down to bare cast iron. After that you’ll have to start over with the re seasoning but it really does work!!😊

My grandmother that died at 98 from a car accident always seasoned hers on the farm using a fire outside. She put the pans in the fire, got them hot, pulled them out, wiped them down, then she took a slab of fatback smeared all over the pans/skillets, put them back in the fire. I don’t recall any of her cast iron rusting! She did say, don’t ever wash cast iron, especially with Dawn!

Yep, get a fire going outside, lay your pans in it and put more wood on. Next day (or two) when all has cooled down pull your pans out of the ashes. They will be clean. Works for old heavy cast aluminum pans as well. I had a friend who tried the self cleaning feature on his oven. It works, but you need good ventilation because all the grease and food residue burning off makes smoke.

Jason, I’ve inherited several cast iron skillets, plus bought 3 at a yard sale. My Grammy Agan taught me how to clean them. She just built a fire and threw them in. It burns all the old gunk off and also, I’ve put them in the self-cleaning cycle in my oven. Works very well. They have to be reseasoned, but that’s not hard.

Jason, I really enjoy watching you embrace doing things like back in the day. Back when life was simpler. It’s nice that you take us along as you explore those methods. I’m anxious to see the cast iron skillet when it’s clean then seasoned. You’ve found a new passion. It’s nice to have a friend and mentor like Tony G to give you advice. You’re making those pieces beautiful again.✨They will be heirloom pieces to pass on to MaryCarl one day. I’m sure someone out there will help you decide what to do with your granddaddy’s tractor. It’s hard when you want to preserve something like that for sentimental reasons and for keeping it all vintage. But at the end of the day you want to put it to use in your gardens and your granddaddy would most likely feel the same way. You’ll figure it out. You’re absolutely right. Those sunsets are so beautiful. As always, from CA🏖️take care.

2 methods: so I have even told, in olden days, the farmers or townsmen would build a bonfire and when the fire was going really well, the men would put their wives cast iron cookware and lay it on the fire, when the fire had burned out, the cast iron cookware would be completely clean, and ready to be re seasoned! The other method that I know actually happened to my mother in law: she had purchased a new self cleaning range/ oven combination that year… so when it came time to run the oven cleaning program, she placed her cast iron skillet in the oven on the oven racks, and turn on the cleaning lever. When the oven cleaning program had run its cycle, she removed her cast iron skillet to find out was as clean as a brand new one! 🤣 She was shocked to see it that clean, and began re seasoning it again, and continued using it! I do not use cast iron as it is too heavy.! But the food she cooked in it was delicious!

My name is Gary. I watch you with my wife. I am a mechanic and I collect old tractors and engines. Don’t change it over to twelve volt unless you covert the stater also. Many people put twelve bolts to six volt starters. They work for a while. They spin to fast and eventually will destroy them selves.”you can have a reliable six volt system. If the beater cables are twice as large as a twelve volt cable and your connections are clean, a six volt battery will crank that engine over just fine. If the points are clean . And gaped correctly in good shape, with a known good condenser it will run trouble free for many years. If you keep Also you should keep fuel stabilizer in it if it sits around. If you do the conversion halfway you will fight it forever.

You're right animals are smart, I watch you because I watch the animals, they tell me all I need to know. I trust my dog's judgement if she doesn't like someone, then there is something wrong. Glad your thingy thing works.❤❤🤣🤣🤣

Have used cast iron for over 50 years. When my skillets or dutch oven needs to be redone (which they do at some point) just get a grinding brush that attaches to your drill, take the residue off. Your skillet (pan) will look like steel almost, but don't worry. just season it w/oil in the oven like normal. You will need to do it about 3 times, but they will be seasoned and nice and smooth. Simple to do.

Most of the time the old folks would put the cast irons in a bond fire, heat then up to over 500 F and then scrub them down with coarse salt. Repeat until the pan whips clean, then oil until black and shine.

For many years I've kept (Cascade) powdered automatic dishwasher detergent on hand for washing/ cleaning projects. I soak antique linens in it to remove stubborn stains, hand wash silk plants in it, soak window blinds in the bath tub with it to ease cleaning, and soak cooked on stubborn messes on pots and pans. I would try this first.

I had bought two Dutch ovens and one lid. I had some tree limbs to burn so I added. It was late in the day so I left them to cool off. It came a light shower in the night and one of the omens cracked from the cool rain. I was so sorry! I have a huge huge skillet that will hold two chickens to fry! My Son gave it to me.

Good Day Jason thank you for sharing and harvesting our Smiles today, you might say your alone on the farm, but I don’t think your ever really alone, you’ve got plenty of four legged and two legged friends to keep you company. I use to do electrolysis when I was a teenager, I used a old fish tank, my railroad set power supply (It had a knob on it so I could control the strength) and I’d use copper pennies and nickels or other metal objects. The copper from the pennies would coat what ever other metal objects I’d have connected in the tank. As an Adult I work at a company that manufactured Printed Circuit Boards and we used electrolysis to plate the metal onto the printed circuits.😀👍👍👍

You are a precious man Jason. I adore your kind nature, positivity and enthusiasm. You and Brooke are a perfectly yoked couple. 🙏🏽☺️ Your new electrolysis tank is awesome. Definitely working smarter . . . not harder. It warms my heart seeing Mootilda building strength. Thanks for the take along view of the evening feeding and bedding down. You make it look easy. I agree . . . it’s amazing how quickly they adjust. Animals are so smart and instinctual. Blessings. 🙏🏽🤗💓
