NW Fishing Secrets

Күн бұрын

In this episode, I will show you how to do a catch and cook at the river! Carson from WDFW and I were drift fishing for salmon at the Puyallup river, and caught a couple silvers! While this is not a video on how to catch coho in rivers, it is just a fun coho salmon catch and cook with a great salmon fish and chips recipe! Or was it salmon tacos?? This will be the last drift fishing video for the year, as I am pretty much only doing bobber and egg fishing for salmon now. Enjoy!

The salmon run was pretty good this year for the Puyallup. I limited out everytime I went and even caught a hatchery king out there about 3 weeks ago. Great video Leif. I truly enjoy watching these videos and I hope to go fishing together someday!

Couldn't agree more, the run seemed (still seems) really good this year. Never caught a King on the Puyallup, but the Coho have made up for it very well. So glad you're enjoying the videos. Been using a baitcaster these past couple fishing trips, but to no avail, i am convinced i will just have to go back to a spinning reel this season. Amazes me that you can use one with such ease! Anyways love your videos!
@NWFishingSecrets
@NWFishingSecrets 5 жыл бұрын
Takes some practice! I've been using spinning reels for over 20 years now, and just this year committed to learning how to use a baitcaster. Took a few outings and a lots of rats nests in the spool, but I'm finally comfortable with it now. Not a replacement for spinning setups, but a good addition to the skill set. If you are having problems with overspooling, try tightening the spool setting and thumb the spool as you're casting. Once you hit the water, immediately hold down on the spool so it stops. Let me know how if you think that will help or if you are having other issues with it 🎣
@johnathonuncapher7523
@johnathonuncapher7523 5 жыл бұрын
Hey man I'm on the same page but now i can cast a lot better with a baitcaster than when I first started! Watch some videos about how to use them, you have to adjust your magnets and tension with each different rig. Now I can cast a 1/4 ounce jig with ease!

The river in this video is one of the only ones I can name, as it's already overrun!! 😂 It's the Puyallup. Great river to fish from August through October! For more good trout fishing, try Lake Sammamish! There is amazing cuttroat trout fishing year round there! Good luck!!

Matt69420 haha. Sounds like he knows how to live. A trick for breading fish at your home: after breading leave in fridge for 20-30 minutes. The breading sticks to the fish better 👌

Love your videos great content bro. I've been steelhead fishing for a few years now just getting into salmon fishing. When your bottom bouncing and Float fishing what's the difference in the line that you're using from Main Line to leader line?
@NWFishingSecrets
@NWFishingSecrets 5 жыл бұрын
Glad you're enjoying the videos man! I love making them for you guys... I would use 15lb leaders on either setup, but 50-65lb braid on the bobber setup vs 30-40lb braid for the drift fishing setup. The thicker line floats better while bobber fishing, but when drift fishing you want it to cut through the water better! Hope that helps! Fish onnnn baby! 🎣
