I had the same thought seeing those "teary-eyed John Oliver pleads with undecided Americans" headlines. His video was undoubtedly heartfelt but teary-eyed is a stretch.

3:00 you can bet John Oliver *_never_* needed to wait in a line when casting his vote back in the UK. why? because there are plenty of polling stations in voting districts to make sure no citizen has to walk long and lines don't have much chance to form. voting is a right, not a privilege you have to earn by fighting multiple layers of more or less obvious voter discriminations or discouragement. 😒

Let's not forget the many, many bomb threats that cleared important polling stations in cities in swing states. Russian emails targeted concentrations of blue voters. A handful of threats went out to patches that DJT won by large margins in 2016 just to make it appear the threats were random: those areas weren't in any question that they'd vote DJT. The threat of bombs kept people away. Because election day isn't a holiday, those people wanting to come back had already returned to work and most couldn't leave again to vote. Intimidation through violence.

People who work can’t stand in line to vote like that. Today should be a national day off to vote

Certainly a few hours in a row of paid time off. Happens in Canada.

@@s2kgirl thankyou that’s the most positive comment I’ve had whenever I post that I’m voting for trump on Stephen’s channel this past month. I’ve been called a fascist, racist, and other negative comments by democrat supporters and it makes me want to vote even more for trump. I’m an independent and there were Democratic candidates I would’ve voted over trump but Kamala was appointed not nominated and here we are. Regardless of whoever wins I hope they do the best for this country and we’re all Americans.

The first election I was old enough to vote in was 1972; and I've never missed one, always voted in person. I LOVE voting in person. To come together with all of my neighbors in this ritual is very joyful. This year not so joyful, and anyway there was a glitch, an obligation that might have prevented me from voting, so I voted early. In two years I expect to vote in person again. In person voting is the BEST.

Why do you guys keep posting these in 3 parts? Problem is, I have to start all 3 videos to guess the first one (which is the middle one today), and I NEVER know which one is 2nd or last. KZbin is not that hard!

Watching this post-election makes me feel the same way as listening to music made in that year pre-covid. Everything produced after isolation was some of the most pure, emotionally-charged work that this generation of artists released, and it felt so honest and relatable that we could all get behind it. Now, less than a week later, I'm watching this now-strange optimism that was floating around our entertainers, and the content after is epitomized by the emotional equivalent of bags under your eyes. And I NEED that right now. I need to be validated that last week's hope and faith were destroyed. There was a BTY before Nov. 5, 2024, there was a BTY before Jan. 20, 2020, and there was a BTY before Nov. 8, 2016. All of these people have changed and evolved into me today: the BTY that requires ART and ARTISTS who relate to, and reflect, my own emotions. 2025 punk music is gonna SLAP.

Was delighted to be in the middle of a dozen strong line when I went & voted at like 8:30 on a dreary, wet, weirdly humid Monday morning. And that another small line was already forming as I was heading out.
