Spader has a very feline personality. If he's in the mood he's very energetic, but he's also very happy just lying in a sun patch and slow blinking at you as you wave one of those ribbon on a stick toys at him like a maniac.

Love it! James Spader shows up to a interview with a reference in tow! When James Spader says he matured early it's a statement of fact. A person doesn't have his cool unblinking concentration without the wisdom to back it up. His intense focused intellect can not be faked. All the time in the world for James Spader, that's a no brainer. He's gold, no producer with any brains would let a single second be wasted.
@suzannebrown25053 жыл бұрын
I was in love with James Spader when I first saw him in Stargate. He was so gorgeous with his looks and beautiful and oh-so-soothing voice! Wow! His outer looks are not what they were, but the rest of him is! I still want him, but I’m way too old (at virtually 75) for him. I’ve always been drawn to people who “don’t fit the mold” of others, but “do their own thing” based on how they perceive a situation to be. They don’t need to emulate others or try to be someone they are not. They think and then act based on what they see and feel and are not impulsive. 💖

I thought it was funny as hell. Spader was clearly not interested in 'playing the game' and Colbert obviously knew who it was he wanted on the show. This was like a verbal chess game between two (very different) intelligent men who (I believe) share a strong respect for one another. I don't believe Spader would have done the interview if he didn't want to. This is him 'playing along' kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4erlHuQdpJ3mdE And it's way less honest and interesting. It's barely an interview, he just kinda talks and Fallon is basically just there. vs here, where it's more of a conversation. AND at one point he says "I'm comfortable with discomfort" (5:14) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJe9mZxuo9Ohgqs Super interesting guy :)

Joseph Scott Agreed. But these are the hardest guests - the ones that don’t give anything back for the host to work with. “Were you a super rich druggie?”, “No. My parents were teachers. I really couldn’t relate to the super wealthy....” is a more expected response.

In retrospect, they were the best part of the film, along with Annie Potts. At the time, I thought Spader was such a monster... being about 13 years old as I was and lacking the ability to enjoy a good villain. Because yeah, that character was trash, but the acting was delightful. But yeah, Duckie is my special boy and always was and I'd say he should have gotten the girl if he didn't deserve better (which he totally does).

I took a class from Gordon Hunt, and he advised all of us to treat the audition as the job. Don't think about the outcome, don't expect anything. Just do the audition as if you had been HIRED to do it. Treat it as the work and then let it go, because actors don't often get jobs from auditions - they get them from the people at the audition REMEMBERING them when OTHER jobs come up. So the audition is important, but the decision isn't. Only the impression you leave is important.
