A bit unrelated, but something I've noticed with Colbert... he's very conscious of those steps to get up onto the platform where his desk is. Whenever he has a guest that may have a problem getting up there - whether it's someone who is simply older like Pelosi or someone who may have mobility issues. He is extra careful and usually offers his hand or arm as extra support. He makes sure they are up on the platform safely before he goes to his desk to start the interview. It's such a small thing but it shows his attention to detail and professionalism.

People tend to break protocol that way because they feel that the question is being ignored or they’re not getting a real answer by asking politely. Certainly many people feel that way about the Congressional response to this stage of that conflict. I think Stephen handled the situation’s competing demands exceptionally well.

@user-kz6in8qk2h I agree that some people may feel that way but IMO, when done this way, in this forum it comes off as rude or as a spoiled child making a scene to get thier way. I'm not saying that their protest isn't valid, but at some point they must realize, will this help or hurt my cause. Using this gal as an example, we didn't hear what she was saying, and instead of bring attention to her stance, it came off more as attention seeking than actually protesting.

Because tens of thousands of innocent Gazans have been killed while the Biden administration and most Democrats have largely hemmed and hawed about Israel's right to defend itself. They could have just cut off military aide. But historically, supporting and empowering the Israeli state financially and military, regardless of its actions, has been a bipartisan position in America. Also... this has electoral consequences for Democrats. There's a very large Muslim population in Michigan that could be mobilized for Democrats, but that's a much harder sell if Democrats seem to accept the narrative that Palestinians are presumed terrorists whose lives don't matter. So yeah, maybe the protestors aren't "polite" enough for you. It's worth trying to understand why instead of asking why rhetorically, only to dismiss them.

I recognize and respect her intelligence, acuity, her having forged paths for women....h But I think we all know by now that "charm" is a facade. She's tough, and barely hides it

@@LindaC616 Shes a career-politician who enriches herself using her position. Just follow her trades and you know how to avoid stuff like COVID lockdowns, etc. Buy her book, "How to do Insider trading with no risk"

@@LindaC616You have to be tough to accomplish what she did. Without her fundraising throughout her career, the Democratic Party would’ve been in dire straits years ago. To say nothing of her accomplishments as Speaker of the House. The amount of legislation she was able to get passed with the slimmest of majorities was truly amazing (and Republicans with the same slim majority accomplished nothing!)
