Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

"Shoe Dog " is maybe one of my favorite books because it's not like you're reading a simple autobiography it's a masterpiece because every word have been chosen wisely and it's amazing to imagine a guy from Oregon can conquering the world with the idea to convert peoples to running. I'm proud to say I love Nike till' day one but when I read the book, I love Nike even bigger and the founder at the same time ^^;)

I worked for Nike for five years and my memories are seeing Mr. Knight eating alone in the cafeteria and running alone in the track that surrounded Nike headquarters. Usually a CEO will have a bunch of yes men following them around. I read the book and it was very good. I gave several copies of the book to my friends and they all thought it was great.

I'm two thirds of the way through his autobiography and it's a riveting read! He writes well, just like you are having a conversation with him. As he mentions, he got his start importing shoes from Japan as these could be produced cheaper than in the US (at that time). As for all the comments about where the shoes are made now, I can only say that companies will locate work to where it's cheapest. Not only in the shoe business. And I think their obligations are to ensure a safe working environment for the workers and to contribute to those communities. If they were forced to hire local workers, their cost base would rise to an uncompetitive level and they might become financially unviable.

@@ilikecookies6406 if he paid them a liveable wage they wouldn’t be begging for crumbs from a multimillionaire. It’s exploitation plain and simple. White slave owners used the same logic to justify slavery by saying that black people and native Americans couldn’t take care of themselves. Hiring kids isn’t humanitarian. Paying their parents a fair wage so the kids can go to school and have a better future so they can break the cycle is. Your way of thinking is what perpetuates economic disparity at a global level.

Phil Knight paid Al Gore to get him a lower tax/tariff to import shoes from Japan about a year or so after he founded Nike, so he wouldn't be taxed at a rate where he could not compete with everybody else. It took a co-sponsor, but I don't remember - it was probably a Republican along with Gore that pushed the legislation through. That tax rate was applied only to Japanese shoe imports. From that point on, businesses knew that if they wanted to grow their companies quickly from oversees imports, they would have to bribe congressmen to get lower taxes. Before that he owed millions in back taxes. The reason we have a large debt both on imports and Government debt is largely because business people in the US followed Phil Knights strategy for gaining success. Nike has not really ever manufactured any of the products it sells - they are more a design and advertising firm by choice.Thought you should know who was ground zero for the economic problems we are facing today. Except for a waffle shoe pattern, the most revolutionary thing Phil Knight accomplished, was duping poor people into buying overpriced athletic shoes by hiring top athletes to become shoe salesmen. When I see Nike on anyone these days, I think poor person paid a fortune for $10 sneakers, and doesn't even know why. And I am always too polite to bring up what I think around Nike lovers, because no one likes to think that they are gullible and easily manipulated by advertising. What a change in attitudes between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats AND Republicans are now more tied into Wall Street than Main Street. It is surprising that an independent socialist from Vermont, Bernie Sanders and a capitalist millionaire out of New York and New Jersey, Donald Trump are more closely aligned to the needs, wants, and general feeling of the working class in America than the parties they represent.

so let me get this straight Phil Knight started a shoe company with a 1)$1000, 500 which was given to him by his Running coach 2)It was the Running coach's idea to use the waffet iron to mold the rubber sole of the bottom of the running shoe 3)Manufactured with the help of the Tiger shoe company in Japan 4)the name "Nike" was the idea of an employee 5)The Nike Swoosh was designed by a Girl who he only paid $2 an hour & gave her 500 shares of stock 6)It was Tinker Hatfield who designed all of the great looking shoes at Nike(Air Max), including Air Jordan's (3-14) 7)it was Sonny who told Phil & Nike to invest in Michael Jordan when Phil thought it was ridiculous idea because the contract was too expensive 8)Tinker Hatfield's idea to use the visible air bubble in the shoes conclusion: Basically Phil Knight just stood there and watched himself get lucky as fuck

***** LOL... the logo did not make Nike profitable. She got paid to design a logo for a fledgling company. My sister paid a graphic design artist to design a logo for her company too. I promise you that my sister did not pay more than $500.

I was in Beijing last year . It was my birthday and I went to bookstore and ask God to give me good book present, long time I stood there and try to choose and eventually i saw big swoosh and Bill with Warren suggest to read it and I bought it . I always wear Nike but never know story about them and this book just opened so many interesting facts about this company , now this is my favorite book and I just was curious how he looks and come here to watch . Nice book highly recommend to read !

Nike used to be good shoes with good arch, would last forever. Now cheap shoes at grossly inflated prices, arch sucks and shoes don't last at all!

Clorox Bleach if american companies don’t outsource their manufacture those kids would be on the street begging , none of those options are ideal but it is the responsibility of foreign countries to restrict child labor and provide basic needs for their citizens. Cheap labor is the result of a poor economy.

@@willduke4733 So what about our workers in the streets begging? When did it become to care about other countries before ours? You know what happens in those other countries when people get have jobs, they start a revolution and overthrow their government.
