@mastermaniac19117 жыл бұрын
As a Canadian I don't think you would understand the concept of freedom of speech. There's a phrase that is popular among Americans. "I don't believe what you're saying, but I'd bleed for your right to say it."
@OliviaDeng7 жыл бұрын
mastermaniac1911 no They meant to say that they don't understand how someone could be so ignorant and careless to do such a thing. I understand the concept of free speech (I am Canadian as well), however it is the concept of logic and compassion that the people this person is referring to lack, which is so hard to understand.
@44ThaNatos447 жыл бұрын
mastermaniac1911 no That's kinda funny that you tell someone he can't understand the concept of freedom of speech when clearly you can't either. Freedom of speech isn't about "let everybody say whatever they want and fuck people offended by it". That's just how you turn a peaceful society into a violent one. The people at this rally litterally called to kill blacks and jews. Nobody has to fight for the right for them to do so, they are making threats and promoting a message of hate, which is all but using their right to free speech. If you don't actually do whatever you threaten of because it's illegal, then you shouldn't even be tolerated to make that threat in the first place. If I say "I'm gonna come and slit your throat" (I'm not), do you wait for me to actually have a knife on your skin to call for a restricting order ? Point made.
@Freeman30077 жыл бұрын
mastermaniac1911, " I'd bleed for your right to say it." You have to go deeper. Problem not in words but in deeds as you can see in Th4N4 comment above. You are _amazingly_ dense, 'Spaghetti'. First off, the left does *not* condone violence, and aside from a few outliers that occasionally punch nazis pretty much every violent act has been right-wingers. Nazis, however, by very definition of their dogma and beliefs are *violent* . They encourage the ascension of one race over all others - how is that in any way remotely acceptable, at all? Ever? So yes, anyone who thinks that white people are better than everyone else is wrong - and I may even call them fascist. However, I am not a 'left-winger', and as such I personally would not hesitate to *punch a fucking nazi* .
@themoleman68067 жыл бұрын
Amazing how liberals will rant about nazism being "inherently violent" but will still think the McCarthy Trials were a bad thing. Here's a little history lesson folks, Communists have _always_ been violent and have gotten more people killed than any fascist or nazi regime. So unless you're going to say it's acceptable to punch commies too Zach, you can fuck right off with your delusional hypocrisy. Also, you're lying about right wing violence.

But no. Things move quite slowly. We are defending people that simply want to say what is on their mind. It's barbaric to hurt others unless they attack first. If a Nazi came up to me, I would not hurt him until he starts to attack me. Why? Because there is the market place of ideas, which is the best way to remove terrible ideas. Violence does nothing in the market place other than destroy it. You really don't want to underestimate the market place. There is also the fact that Nazi is not a term that is given to others, but to oneself. Much like feminist, men's rights activist or advocate, and the like. To do otherwise would be nothing more then name calling.

Trump is making America great again. Leftists are instigating violence. And the leftists are losing this political battle which is why they are so angry. Instead of carrying bats and bottles to hit people, leftists should simply protest peacefully as MLK successfully did.

Trump highlighted the fact that other groups such as ANTIFA and BLM (to a lesser extent) are there to instigate violence and are equally if not more so to blame than the white nationalists who as bad as they are didn't go to start violence. I'm not a Trump Supporter (reluctant defender) but I just don't see how this position is justifiable

Because the only tactic the right uses anymore is to straw man the problem. The right can no longer defend their positions with a straight face and instead have to point the finger at any other problem that they feel is equal to the problem being raised to them. :"Is Trump in bed with Russia?" becomes "What about Hillary's e-mails?" I'm not saying the left has problems too. It's not just right wing conservatives that get pushed out of lectures at college campuses being yelled at for hate speech. Society is falling apart at the seams because we as Americans have forgotten the social contracts we had with one another. Is not every American deserving of common decency? When did we forget to talk about the problems? Now we just label people assign them to a group we hate and yell at each other. This isn't a problem with races or because of immigrants. This is an American problem and it will continue so long and we continue to allow religious and political dogma to divide us from each other instead of actually trying to fix the problems. We were once a leading democratic nation because of the unity we showed for each other. We all know and understand the problems with a socialist style of governing and it's why we chose to be a Democracy. Now all we hear from Republicans is how we are a free market society and that Capitalism will truely save the day. The fact is though we have become a society ruled by greed and wealth. We've forgotten about our brotherhood from sea to shining sea and now want what's ours, damned being anyone who gets in our way. Just as religion has its zealots who spout off their beliefs yet act in a hypocritical way, politics has slowly become polluted by greed. Imagine if congress had to do their job for minimum wage without the health benefits they force us to pay. We're running out of time as a people to course correct the problems of our empire of greed. If our society collapses, it will be because 1% of our population has everything, not because the rich have to pay more in taxes. I think the rich and wealthy often forget We the People made them wealthy and if we cannot afford to buy the things they want to sell us, they will go out of business as well.

@thethoughtcriminal87867 жыл бұрын
Hey, Colbert.....what about Antifa? How about BLW? What about the violence they have committed and continue to commit. Those assholes tore down a monument of a confederate soldier. They are trying to erase history. How about the communist flags and the burning of the American flag....what about that? Unlike you Trump denounced ALL violence, not just the violence done by people you don't like, Colbert. Because of people like you, most people do not even understand why this is happening....they think their just a bunch of "racists" throwing a rally. They don't know that they were protesting the removal of confederate monuments and portraits of founders, just because they are white.

Why have you not condemned Antifa, Stephen? Or communists, for that matter. They also have committed violent acts both before and during the incident at Charlottesville. Trump actually condemned all of the violent sides at Charlottesville, so why can't you? 🤔
@Cheeziswin7 жыл бұрын
Because the antifa didn't murder someone that night and injure 19 with a car and also didn't open fire on the other side and didn't carry assault weapons and guns, and the antifa only got violent after said events happened. i might be wrong but that's most likely why he didnt condemn them maybe? just a thought
@Nightdare7 жыл бұрын
+Cheeziswin I found no evidence of assault weapons in any of the news coverage, only of one guy firing on counter protestors (without casualties) You seem to have a knack for generalizing, nice way to create a sentiment to support your agenda How about becoming more objective and find out how many were really involved in violent actions (on both sides)
