Heroin, feel free to go to talk to modern Germans and ask them how they feel about their history. A vast majority will say it's absolutely critical that we not repeat the mistakes of their past, and are watching our situation unfold with great caution. There are very few living Germans who wish to carry on the legacy of the Third Reich, and there they are viewed rightfully as terrorists and extremists.

If their role in history was one primarily tied to either building or maintaining racism and racist institutions such as slavery. Trump's "fears" are ill-founded, as the other people he mentioned do not fir the aforementioned category. If there are people who DO want to remove all statues of each person who ever owned slaves... then they're kinda missing the point. Washington is not a symbol of fighting to keep slavery, Lee is. It's about what such a person symbolises and the exploits for which they're honoured and remembered.

I mean, how would you feel about a president that owned a golf resort that employed illegal immigrants and made them work 'off the clock' for no pay? Or even faked their green cards? That would be wrong by today's standards. But guess who does that?!?! Isn't that a form of slavery???

Heroin, A few of Trump's known crimes, and crimes that are reasonable to suspect: 1. [Potential] treason. There is strong evidence that Trump knowingly colluded with a foreign hostile power to undermine the democratic process, including aiding efforts of 'foreign election meddling'. This includes working with Russia to spy on his political rivals, and publicly granting Russia permission to proceed with the DNC hack. There is unending evidence of collusion, but the case for treason is arguably incomplete. It hinges on proving criminal intent before going to prosecution. Even with the emails showing a clear willingness to participate, Trump could plead a defense of nativity or ignorance. Since his hand was forced to release his emails, Trump Jr. has already taken the public position that he was a naive Russian patsy and didn't understand the scope of the problem saying he thought it was just "standard opposition research" and wasn't aware of the legal/moral implications in cooperating with a foreign hostile power to conduct cyber attacks against parts of the US government. 2. [Confirmed] Trading US policy for business favors. Trump has admitted to many conflicts of interest. Some of those expressly violate the U.S. Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause. “[N]o Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under [the United States], shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” Since he did not divest his business operations before inauguration, he has been violating the Foreign Emoluments Clause since the moment he took office. This was intentional and malicious. Trump boasted how he planned to be the first person to profit off his position as president. I can provide links to the legal literature why this alone is grounds for impeachment, per request. 3. [Confirmed] Sexual Harassment/Assault. Numerous women have testified that he has groped them without permission. Trump himself has been recorded saying he grabs them and doesn't ask permission, and that he gloats that he gets away with it because he holds a position of power over them. (Ex. Barging in on naked teenage girls in their dressing rooms, and getting away with it because he owns the pageants.) This isn't classified as "high crimes" the same way treason or emoluments are, but still carries prison time. 4. [Confirmed] Multiple counts of obstruction of Justice. First is when Trump asked James Comey to shut down legitimate investigations in favor of loyalty to Trump. Comey has an impeccable record, immediately took notes creating a paper trail, and disseminated information about that pledge among his staff back when it happened. Next count is when Trump fired Comey for investigating him. To this day, his excuses for doing this are nonsensical and cite the same reasons Trump praised Comey. It is painfully clear beyond all reasonable doubt that he was attempting to hamper the investigations he has made countless other attempts to stop. ...I won't give it a whole bullet point, but there is a separate [Potential] "Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice" charge. The conspiracy just requires a single person saying "yes" to one of his many loyalty pledges. (I say "many" because he's done this a lot throughout his business career and even has his supporters swear loyalty at rallies.) 5. [According to Trump] Since we are already covering Trump's lack of credibility and this Comey story, do you recall when Trump used a tweet to threaten James Comey? Specifically, he threatened to release tapes of their conversation. If Trump's post was taken seriously (and we assumed his threats were not empty and that recordings did exist), he should have provided those tapes per the government subpoena as evidence. Instead, Trump's posted a tweet that would make him culpable for: A. Blackmail B. Witness Intimidation C. Threats against a private citizen D. Failure to hand over the tapes would be concealing evidence E. Erasing the tapes destruction of government property (Trump ultimately admitted he was lying but in a roundabout way, and subsequently claimed no tapes ever existed.) 6. [Confirmed prima facie] Bribery. To try to derail the Trump University investigation, Trump broke federal law in connection with his foundation’s gift to to a campaign group connected to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Trump and his accountants failed to disclose the gift to IRS, taking intentional measures to obscuring the recipient. That gift was received right before the ruling not to proceed with the case against Trump University-- a blatant attempt at bribery. Not that contact direct contact between Trump and Bondi was important, Trump also lied saying they never spoke. End result, Trump funneled more than $160,000 in donations Bondi's way.

Harry Leslie Smith a 94 year old Royal Air Force veteran from the UK has been speaking out lately and one of the things he mentioned really got to me, he said in August 1939 him and his friends would just laugh at the newsreels of Hitler in Germany and at the age of 16 he never thought anything was going to happen. To me it reminds me of myself laughing at Trump this whole time. Now after having fought actual Nazis in WW2 he is worried that the world is repeating the same mistakes it did in WW2. The fact that a man who lived through such a terrible period is vehemently warning us of essentially repeating WW2 is scary as all hell.

G. Washington has a city named after him yet he was a slave owner. It's a liberal hub as far as I know and no one has any problem with it. When people protested against the take down of Robert E Lee statue the radical left/antifa brought clubs to attack them, the police was told to stay away. There were many beatings reported, the Antifa thugs were all masked and it will be impossible to hold them accountable. Historical revisionism is wrong especially when there are double standards involved. But since Colbert's piece on pizzagate I know he's just pushing his agenda, facts mean very little to him.
@MsSphinx917 жыл бұрын
People aren't taking down statues of slave owners. They were taking down a statue of a separatist general who militarily supported the dismantling of the United States. The city had voted on it after several years of debate. Then these conservative/right wing groups poured in from other regions to protest.
@ronhernandez88577 жыл бұрын
Yeah it couldn't have been about slavery, because Rober E. Lee was against slavery and supported the abolition. That's why you have every right to protest, because there's nothing morally wrong in respecting 19th century war heros that just supported the losing side. And you should not beat people up for this.
@MsSphinx917 жыл бұрын
I don't think Robert E. Lee was a bad guy, but he did fight against his country. Why have a statue of him? He didn't just support the losing side. He supported the side that rebelled against the United States. I'm pretty sure we don't have any statues commemorating British generals from the Revolution, and I bet the UK doesn't have any statues commemorating George Washington. And some of those groups that came to protest taking down the statue were also looking for a fight and shouting "Jews will not replace us!" The portion of the protest concerning the statue was quickly followed by the Unite the Right rally, which had nothing to do with the statue itself.

Also, he did not rightfully denounce both sides. You can't say that the counter protesters were attacked so they technically partook in violence. By not calling out neo-nazis and white supremacist, he took a side. The supremacists made a statement commending trump for his actions. One side was protesting, the other had torches and guns and drove a car into people. Also don't act like this is bad for shutting down people who disagree with them. Its a fucking political comedy show (let me repeat, comedy), and Fox is just as biased and no one can get a fucking word in.

What I heard him says is: "there is blame on both sides..." If we extrapolated that, I guess that he also thinks that when a radicalized muslim commits a terrorist act, that there is blame on both the west and radical Islam. On the other side, removing a countries monuments because of the bad that they represent, is censorship. It is the same as saying that it never happened.

Unfortunately, the hatred between the faction has caused a society to reached a point where its practically impossible to have a reasonable conversation. people does not care about the context of discussion. They only care about who is saying and if a people that is voicing their opinion is holding a different opinion from which they advocates, then expect some bloodshed. As of this moment, I feel like a conservative side is managing to hold their sense at the last grip since they at least allow their oppositions to speak (I Know they don't listen but they at least allow others to speak). But as for the Liberal side, they are pretty much helpless. Whenever they find a peoples that disagree with their belief, they quickly resort to calling them a Nazi, white supremacist, homophobic, Islamophobic, and every kind of name calling that they could imagine. The liberal administration throughout the western continent should have considered the opinions of conservative during the past few decades instead of labeling them as whatever they want to call them. Suppressing the opinions of your opposition just because you don't like it is never an answer in constitutional democracy

Saying something like "All white people are racist" or "Trump supporters are stupid" doesn't help either. Screaming "Nazi, Racist, Sexist, etc" just to shut someone up for having an opinion is also wrong. Obviously, not all conservative are Nazi supporters. Obviously, not all white people are bad. Everyone is a different person. And that's why we have what happened today. It's not just about insult toward the liberals from the conservatives. It's vice versa from both sides. Any other than that, I agree with you.
