Cold Air Intake and Functional Hood Vents

In this episode I install a Cold Air Intake on my 2009 Challenger R/T and make the hood scoops functional.

That Corsa cold air box was worth it just for the looks . 100 percent better than the way the stock air box looks. Getting 5 hp is a bonus. I like your factory mod with the functional vents. Pretty cool. 👍

Great video I did that to my 2014 Rt and I cut the holes bigger under the hood and left the rubber pieces off came out very well more air😊

I’ve left my intake stock for 2 reasons, one of them being if I ever switch to a supercharger setup down the road, I’m just going to take the manifold off to replace it with a magnuson anyway!

Nice! I have a 2010 with the non functional T/A hood scoop. I bought a MOPAR kit for way too much money to make it functional. It actually directs cool air into the CAI. Again, negligible power gains but its great to make that awesome scoop functional.

Very cool. I was quite curious about making the scoops functional because I'm trying to help the car with heat soak. I'll invest in these for sure. I like how your calculating your mods. Too many people just slap on things without weighing the effects.

May look into getting your car tuned, HP tuners, force your fans on sooner to keep temps around 200 tops at all times. That's my plan. I'm also installing a GT500 hood vent just before the rear rubber hood seal, but on a 06 Magnum.

@@350Zquicksilver It's on the list after long tubes. I did buy the functional scoops. Took a drive before and after testing temperature. Both tests without the engine cover on. It got up to the same temp but definitely took longer to get there. Your right a tune or perhaps a thermostat would help.

Heck yeah! Corsa closed CAI was my first purchase and haven’t regretted since then. Only con for this that you don’t hear that intake noise as much, but who cares when you got a cammed full Corsa Extreme exhaust!??! Corsa FTW!!

Love this - glad to hear someone talking about preference for closed CAI versus open. Never understood the idea of open units “sealing” under a closed hood. As you stated, they don’t. Also - is that a Brandon Lee Crow shirt? 🤟🏼

Haha it is a Crow shirt! Probably my favourite movie of all time! The thing that’s cool about the Corsa box for this year is it has an opening in the front too so it’s drawing from behind the grill/headlight area as well as below the fender.

I’ve never been sold on CAIs. I ran my best time with the stock Dodge CAI that came with the Shaker package.

Make sure the tube isn't touching the power steering hose clamp. My old intake did that and it knocked like crazy.

I just drilled the holes on the stock vent engine stays cooler and I’m planning getting a ta hood with functional scoop cuz I have a open air box

I would be careful. With the plastic vents clipped in it at least stops water from just sitting in the hood openings on bare steel if you’ve been out in the rain. The chances of the inside of your vents being thoroughly painted aren’t great, and water + steel is going to = rust over time.

I’d imagine they would. Check for the holes under your hood above where the exhaust manifolds are. If they’re there, it’ll work.

Off the top of my head I’m not sure. If you open the hood and see the little holes kind of above where your exhaust manifolds are then it should fit!

I cut the back clean off of my scoop grills with a rotary tool to open them up, then foolishly added LED lights behind them which basically closes off the air path again. Oh well, to me the unique look is worth it.

My 2020 TA has the CAI with functional hood scoop. Lists at 395hp....is that do that? Luckily I so have stock 3.09 LSD. Just saying 😁

@@TrackPackRT part of the performance plus package. Suspension, steering and breaking upgrade. Unless my build sheet is lying to me. Mopar has a site you put in your Vin number and it shows you everything the car has.
