Just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to Chris. He definitely knows what he's doing as he helped me tune my Dodge Charger SRT8 after the same hrt stage 2 cam installation. Your videos inspired me to take on this job alone. Took me 2 months, but finally done last night after Chris did his magic via an email tune as I am in Ontario. If you're ever here, drinks are on me. Very Nice results that shelf I believe is the limitation of the intake manitfold. Mine did the same thing it would just go flat in the higher rpm's then I switched to the 6.4 ported intake and I threw down 479HP and 400 Torque.I am also running a 270 cam in a 2011 Charger R/T.

Great numbers man! A lot of people love the 6.4 intake on the 5.7. I'm still not 100% if it'll fit on a 2009, but I've got my eye on it. First thing though is throwing the phase lock in. Then I'll dyno and see what kind of change we see in the numbers. After that I'll look at what else I want to do. Gotta try one thing at a time, you know, for science! haha

Love the video man 🔥. I also had a question. I’m planning to cam my 2005 ram 5.7 and can’t decide which came to get. Either hrt stage 2 or stage 3. What do you suggest. It’s not a work truck want it more for racing but still drivable in the streets.
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 4 жыл бұрын
When I called comp cams to ask about differences in their kits, they said the stage 3 kit was more for race applications, so I went with the stage 2 cam. The difference in advertised horsepower is negligible between the 2 kits but the stage 2 is more street able. In a ram it would be great because you’d have so much room to do the install!

@@canceledczech457 No difference in 5.7L heads cast in 2017. The 5.7L HEMI has remained 100% unchained since 2009. And I mean that very literally. It's exactly the same, down to ever nut and bolt as it was in 2009 with the new "Eagle" redesign. As they sit, the 2009+ Eagle heads flow 331cfm intake, 181cfm exhaust. That's as good or better than ported LS heads. To give you an even clearer reference point, the 6.4L "Apache" heads flow only 8cfm more on the intake side, at 339cfm. However where the Apache heads off the 6.4L really shine, is the exhaust ports, which flow at 240cfm versus the Eagle's 181cfm. If anything, all I would personally do to a set of Eagle heads is port and polish the exhaust ports as big and as shiny as I could reasonably get them.

@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 4 жыл бұрын
Dresdon Acacin that seems like a hell of a setup that should fly when you’ve got it up and running! If everything is by email your data logging will be key. It also might take quite a few revisions to get it running properly as it seems like all the guys who got their stage 2 cams email tuned were having problems getting their cars running right. The biggest thing I can say is if they’re having problems with the car actually imputing the volumetric efficiency they’re asking for and for some reason it’s not responding, turn off the VVT and it will let you make the changes. That’s the one issue we had but that might only be an 09-10 specific problem.

@@SuperAces101 I suppose you could but it still likely won’t run the best until you get it dialed in with your tuner. I don’t know if a 91 canned tune would benefit you over the stock one while you try to get it to your tuner. The big thing is to make sure your AF doesn’t go to lean if you have a gauge to check it. If not take it real easy on it, I mean you have to break in your cam anyway, and baby it until you meet with your tuner. It might stall on you especially if you have an automatic just a heads up.

Hey man, really need your help. Love your channel, i am a subscriber. We talked briefly a while ago about your phase limiter issue. Update: I obtained all my gaskets etc for my cam install. I also just put a innovate wideband in my kooks midpipe with a badass gauge in my pillar. I found some hellcat lifters for 350 for 4 racks of them. Right now I’m stuck between a comp 270 or the stage 2 hrt for my 5.7 in Jeep wk2. I’m tempted to buy the stage 2 comp kit, I like that it has the springs and the rods with it in the kit eliminating the guess work. Did you buy the kit that came with the comp lifters or did you run mopar lifters? Non MDS or hellcats? And as far as gaskets go, I bought cometic head gaskets and fresh cometics for my headers, also got a new intake manifold gasket for a 6.1 as I’m slapping on a 6.1 mani i obtained for my cam install (purely for looks). Also, did you use stock fasteners? I could go with the more expensive ARP bolts but it seems like overkill for a NA 5.7... I’m trying to cut cost if possible, but am willing to pay extra for hardware etc if it’s worth the peace of mind. I also have decided to just lock the phaser and not mess with vvt. I think it will make it simpler to tune and less problematic. I’m limited by the auto RFE trans, so reverse, stopping, and idle could be problematic initially although I’m prepared for that. My main questions are: 1. Did you use the comp kit and their springs and pushrods, 2. what lifters did you use, 3 and what hardware and gaskets did you go with? 4 were you able to reuse anything, I’m planning on not getting a new timing chain & cam sprocket. Also thinking about reusing the valve cover bolts and gasket - do you advise this? Your videos are extremely helpful and will be referenced frequently during my own install. I saw you were able to reuse some stock bolts etc, can you elaborate on this. My Instagram is Hemi_Rx if you want to check out my build. Feel free to pm me there or comment back here. Any and all info you provide me will be HUGELY APPRECIATED. Mopar Fam!

If you have mds lifters (if your car is a 2009+ automatic that’s not a 6.1 Hemi it would have mds) you’ll need to change the lifters to non mds lifters for a lot of these aftermarket cams. If you didn’t want to change lifters and keep mds you could go with the stock 6.4 cam which makes decent power in a 5.7.

It was all in the HRT stage 2 Cam kit. In the kit you get the cam, pushrods, valve springs, valve seats, keepers, and a phase limiter. The only thing I bought extra was lifters, the gaskets and new head bolts I needed and a Hemi valve removal tool.

Of all the guys I know modifying their 5.7s the results have been very similar to mine numbers wise and that’s with a variety of different tuners from Jay Greene to Hemifever to dyno tunes you name it. Now I’m not saying it didn’t happen, however if he put down those numbers he likely has a factory freak car which has happened before in car circles, but I don’t think it’s the norm.

The stage 3 operates from 3-7k but with conical springs you can run it out to 7,500. I believe the stage 2 starts it's power and around 1,900 and revs to 7k. I don't know anyone launching at 1900. Just my .02. I had the decision to make as well but I went with the stage 3 and springs to support 7500

@@suprattguy07 But that's what I mean, on the street no one is revving to 3 grand and hammering it off the line, you'd never hook up! And for driving around town stop light to stop light if you're just having fun you're likely way over the speed limit by the time you're in the sweet spot of the power band from 3-7k. The track is a different story though. Just different applications. How do you like your stage 3? Did it give you some decent numbers?

I was still upset about comp cams statement of 83 to 120+ hp gains. I do have a plateau spot as well now. My tuner wants me to bring it back in so he can adjust the torque Management in the higher rpms. I go again this Saturday. Brian, from Oklahoma.
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 4 жыл бұрын
Yea it's definitely a little on the unrealistic side. Say I do replace the phase limiter with a phase lock and that was the restriction responsible for the flat spot. Say I end up with 430 whp next time I go in. That would give me 56 whp. They were claiming 83, likely on an engine dyno, so lets factor in a 15% drivetrain loss for comparison sake which means we should expect to see around a 70 whp gain. I don't think there's any way that cam is putting down that much power. Don't get me wrong I love the cam, but that figure seems a little unrealistic.

VVT would give you a more power through out the rpm band (a flatter looking curve) but not necessarily more power. The problem is with bigger cams is it interferes with VVT which is why you have to install either a limiter or a lock depending on the specs of your setup.
