A line of severe thunderstorms impacted all of southeastern Wisconsin on September 25th, 2022. Despite high temperatures only in the 60-65°F range, very cold temperatures aloft allowed for steep lapse rates and some surface-based instability to develop by afternoon. This, in combination with adequate wind shear, allowed for low-topped thunderstorms to develop and become severe as they moved into the region. These storms produced quite a bit of wind damage across southeastern Wisconsin, and left 20,000 customers without power.
