Cold Shocked Sea Turtles!

We found a Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle, the rarest and most endangered on earth, beached and freezing cold in Cape Cod. Without immediate help this turtle has very little chance of survival. Join the rescue effort as we follow its journey to be rehabilitated and hopefully released to swim in the ocean again. Will our sea turtle survive? … watch to find out!
Rare and critically endangered sea turtles are freezing cold and washing up on the shores of New England each fall because of changing weather patterns. Luckily, we have joined forces with the conversation efforts to save these “cold-stunned” turtles which is led by the New England Aquarium and Mass Audubon. Each year hundreds of volunteers comb the sandy beaches of Massachusetts in search of these distressed turtles so they can be rehabilitated and released back into the wild.
Big thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and the clinical team and volunteers at the New England Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Hospital. Without their tireless efforts thousands of critically endangered sea turtles would certainly not survive these increasing weather events. Please consider joining us in helping them!

I have interned for New England Aquarium. it truly is an amazing organization. their conservation efforts and rescue and rehab efforts are amazing. on a more personal note, I have never felt more appreciated in this field than by the staff and volunteers of the place. they attract the nicest and greatest people.

I love turtles so much. One of the many things I like about your show is that you don't focus on politics, but keep the spotlight on the animals themselves and those who are doing something to help. Too many environmentalists focus on government issues and insult humanity with condescending and self-deprecating statements. Such things only make the viewer be tempted to despair and feel helpless. The way that you guys keep a positive educational approach with the proper focus does a great service to true conservation efforts. You guys and the Irwin's are my favourite nature shows. I really appreciate what you are doing.

I've volunteered at a place where they rehab turtles and keep some turtles that can't be released due to not being able to survive in the wild. They're such amazing creatures that deserve all the love in the world. They even like butt scratches like dogs. I am limited to not working with newly brought in turtles as they can carry many diseases, including airborne ones. If you see a stranded turtle, always call a professional for your safety and theirs.
