Diesel's have alot more compression then a gasoline motor does and diesels take longer to start up during the winter if you don't plug them in

Some diesels have a timer on there glowplugs. Some glowplugs are lit longer and some are not lit as long. With some diesel fords, i don’t remember which, you don’t have to cycle the plugs because they will still be lit even after the glow plug light turned off. Idk about dodges or gms tho.

I don’t know what all the flake is about, after about a week of a cat running the compression is so low in a Cat the only good thing is that the battery still has warranty on them that’s any good.

Yes, it's an acert, mine for example is a C-15 6NZ in my 2003 Kenworth W900. From 2004 and on, the C15's were acert engines (notice the lack of the dash between the C and 15 like the earlier 6NZ engines). If you are looking for the per-emissions engines, the last one was the C-15 with the serial number having 6NZ and they were made from 2000 to 2003. Before that, you would be looking at the 3406E models that's the last of the 3406 series found in the early to late 90's trucks.

@@dmc016 Technically true but it's more of a bridge engine between the 6NZ and acert engines. They were made in mid 03 to late 04 as some later 04 model year trucks came with the acert engines. How is your MBN? If it's not too good in fuel mileage, you should convert it to a 6NZ as that's possible on MBN engines and you'll have better fuel mileage and a better performing engine too.

He is using the glowplugs. Diesel engines get them to preheat the combustion chamber. Therefor it is going to start easier in the cold. Put the ignition on and they will heat up the chamber for maybe 5 to 10 seconds.

@@volvo850xx most diesel engines bigger than 7 liters dont have a glow plug but a grid air heater on the intake that works similarly
