Cold Steel Emperor Katana vs Warrior Katana

Just a quick look at my Emperor & Warrior series katana's from Cold Steel. They are basically the same 1055 carbon steel blades, the Imperial series having higher quality fittings & a hand polished fuller with silk wrapped tsuka. The Emperor Katana gets high marks for the nickel-silver brass fittings which will not rust. Extra care should be taken on the iron fittings of the Warrior series to prevent oxidation...

That nickel silver does look and shine just fine ,very attractive with that addition and the Warrior series is very nice also.

Cold Steel claims the only difference between the two is the fittings & extra polishing of the Emperor series fuller. I think the Emperor katana I have was just ground more when the worker profiled the blade (they are all done by hand on machinery as far as I know) so no two are exactly alike. I am with you though as the Warrior katana I have does have a more robust look with the extra material compared to the Emperor katana.

In reply to The Shadow Warrior - The Emperor Katana came to me fairly sharp though not quite razor sharp. Being swords they don't require a hair popping edge to get the job done. One could easily touch up the edge for that level of sharpness though.

Both swords came into my passion with tight fittings & wrapping of the handle's. Being mass produced I could see where that could be hit or miss though... The Emperor has a silk wrap, while the Warrior has a cotton tsuka-ito (wrap).

Are u sure it’s silk? I bought the crane katana recently and the description says silk, but when I contacted cold steel through email they said all of their ito wraps are cotton? Is that false advertisement?

Basically they are both the same, if you strip away the extra aesthetic upgrades of the Emperor katana. Neither is double edged. I'd personally say the Warrior is the better bargain for general use.

Batesmotel1960 figure on paying $300 USD for the warrior katana now. Yeah, I agree you could find a quite Nice katana for around $600. A couple come to mind.....

Hmm so the emperor is better looking, but the warrior looks more durable and looks like it won't get dull as fast. I'm not a sword expert, just speaking my mind :P

Between the Imperial & Warrior series? The Imperial katana has a fine hand polish along the fuller (aka Blood grove). Also the Imperial Katana has Nickel-Silver fittings, unlike the Warrior which employs Iron fittings that tend to rust if not properly cared for. Otherwise the blades are basically the same 1055 medium carbon steel heat-treated to a spring temper.

Azn Boii183 Sorry sir I'm more of just having a look at the differences and finish and fittings. If you keep checking KZbin there are tons of videos of everybody chopping just about everything with these blades.
