Nothing better than fresh fish on a creek or river bank! Try adding a little mustard to the hot sauce then roll your fish in batter and fry them since you said you like the darker brown ones!!! Its a little extra work but its definitely good to try!

In my river a 3 inch tube jig in green pumpkin or mustard will catch the walleyes but be prepared to catch everything else to even channel cats and flatheads

I just got back from Florida's west coast fishing in 85 degree weather and not ready for this, but gonna hit it this weekend in N. Illinois. Was checking Merchandise out and saw your missing one thing, Koozie's. I'm like a Koozie collector and be nice to have a couple. Cold weather like that means 2 things to me here in Texas. 1. It's Deer season so I'm usually in the stand playing the waiting game. 2. When I'm not hunting it's definitely time to chase the big blue cats cause they love the cold weather and I love catching them.

one of my biggest cats was caught last Thanksgiving in the Great Miami River. i was using a jig and minnow for eyes. I popped a 8lb. channel cat. the water temp. was 38 and it was like pulling up a log. a very tasty log....lol

when i started fishing for walleye and small mouth out of the des moines river. i had an old guy tell me to tip the hook with a tiny piece of worm with the jig. seemed to work pretty good not sure why, other than just maybe scent.

if you’re gonna fish in the cold/wet times... invest in a pair of frog tog pants. they’re super thin and work super well. I use them for work and I never get wet at all. and they cut the wind pretty well if it’s a really windy and cold day.

@@RiverCertified yeah but My neighbors love them channels from 3 to 8 pounds or 10 bigger I throw back I don't wanna hurt the fish world an I've cut some giant Garfish off biggest one I've seen down here was the spring time because it lunged out the water with a 6 pound puppy drum mixed in with a school of carp by the thousands an the Garfish was damn near 11 foot long his head was so gray that his eyes turned grayish green. I used a Fresh 2 pound bass head puppy drum heads or just cut the tail an have a 3 foot leader an they will hit it if there in the area

Bleeding out your catfish, or any fish for that matter, really kicks the taste level up a couple of notches. I am starting to use the ikejime method on my fish to enhance the flavor even more. Cold water catfish, bleed out, and the ikejime performed, then trimming off the yellow and brownish ( red ) meat, has to be the best tasting catfish fillets possible.
