Thanks Steve, how was the Bib? The black one I have is awesome. I use it a lot with layers underneath, very waterproof.

Hi Nigel, I've only managed to get out 3 times this winter. The Helly Hansen Bib is warm and comfortable but not waterproof in choppy sea conditions and especially if you fall off which happened last time. Dry Suit for me next time 😅

For toasty warm hands, nothing beats the Sea-Doo electric heated handgrips with the hand guards, it’s a very good combination for cold weather riding

@@patrickkeller5214 it sure is. I spent quite a lot of time watching videos of people out on cold water. Funny thing was I went from wetsuit straight to shorts with 6 weeks. Lake Erie warms up very quickly.

Great video Nigel. I struggle with what to wear when spring riding. Of course, it's always best to play it safe and dress for the water temperature. But, if you've never fallen off and you're over heating with all the gear it's sometimes hard to justify.

that's the issue we all fight with i think. Being out on the lake there is a higher chance of a rogue wave i guess so wetsuit is a must while the water is still frigid. If i was on the river i would most likely not wear the wetsuit.

Great information, Nigel. I wear the same gear I use when paddling my surf-ski. Kokatat Paddling Jacket with built-in neck and wrist gaskets, short sleeve rash guard shirt with mid-layer duofold long sleeve over, doufold mid-layer pants, with Kokatat paddle pants over, REI waterproff gloves, 3mm wetshoes with thin socks...Smartwool hat...stay very comfortable and warm. Hopefully I will make my first journey out in a couple of weeks. Water temp. at the moment; high 30s. Rhode Island Sound. Have a great season!!! Love your videos. Keep posting! Come down to Rhode Island. Beautiful place to explore.

I'm hoping this weekend (April 2nd) I'll get put. This morning there was a small build up of ice on the the river I will ride but that should go by Thursday as we expect rain and 63f. Sunny and 40f on Saturday.

Great video, very helpful, What happens if you fall in the water with the overalls on? Do they fill up and then make it hard to move? They can be dangerous I have heard? Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank you

I've recently had to test this out (unintentionally). I came off the ski cornering too sharply, had to swim to catch up with the ski. By the time I was back to the ski the pants were full of water which did make it more difficult but not impossible to climb back on. Dry Suit for me next time I go out and until it's warm enough for a wetsuit.
