Sea Doo at Night

Is it legal to ride after dark on your Sea-Doo (PWC)?
In this video I will take you out onto Lake Erie at sunset and show you what Navigational Light system I use on my Sea Doo that allows me to ride legally at night here in Ontario.
I will also show how easy it is to set up.
This is a very cost effective way to make your PWC legal for after dark riding.

Great video & thanks as I have this same set of lights but unsure of where/how to mount them. Seems like your setup was just about perfect. We like to watch the sunsets on the water & this will allow us to legally do that. I agree that boating in the dark should only be done in waters you are familiar with & at a reduced speed.

Only thing about the solid white nav light…it “must” be visible from 360 degrees..so higher thant your head…in your video Nigel…your pole needs to be a bit higher.. A good set ov nav lights..(more expensive i know..) is the Railblaza..with starport inserts..just bought my set yesterday..will install upon my return home..

Another good video nigel. Come on from your first vido you riding the waves lol. All them hours on the water paying dividends. You may want to look at the ultimate st3 front mount it bolts under the gtx cover with interchangeable fittings. @adventure fishing

It is a boat, having lights doesn't mean you go out at night, but means you can safely get back if something unexpected happens, which is part of boating. It is not only for night but any situation that reduces your visibility like rain, fog etc. Being visible is always a good option.

Totally. Riding in the pitch black is not good. The lights are good to help extend your day and get back after dusk.

@@NigelHay My understanding if you wear a white headlight backwards it counts for rear light, and worn properly help at the dock,

@@craigaustin4779 Rear light has to be visible 360 degrees, so I don't think that will work.

I guess since we are under 12m, you could use a stern light so long as it has an arc of 135 degrees or more.

Nigel, 20+ years CCGA on Western Lake Ontario here. @2:10 made me cringe. Might I suggest that you don't fold the tab of you Timmies over like that. Keep the tab closed and just use your upper lip to push it down when you sip your double double. That way when you hit a large pothole out there on the lake the closed tab will prevent most coffee from filling your footwell. Stay safe, have fun. Should you get into trouble *16 on your cell phone will get a hold of Coast Guard (non emergency) should you not have VHF.

Hi there, great videos! For clarity I’m in Ontario and use my Waverunner on Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching. Am I legally allowed to run at night with proper navigation lights? So hard to find this on government sites. Thanks.

@@NigelHay June 27th 2022, Detroit River fireworks are amazing. If you wanted to make the journey to the other side of Lake Erie this might be a great excuse. If I had a PWC I'd be out there on it for the display for sure.

In the United states it is illegal to operate hey PwC at night regardless of the installation of navigation lights.

Definitely depends on your individual state - In Missouri it’s legal as long as you have the proper navigation lights
