That torpedo at 20:56 wasn’t launched by rocket, it was dropped by the helicopter, it picked up the sounds of you reloading the tubes, scroll back to 20:00 you can see the prop wash on the surface

Seawolf can dive below the crush depth of a lot of the enemy air launched and rocket torpedoes. You didn't dive deep enough lol

He intentionally doing it cuz he wanted to make Seawolf captain inexperienced at the beginning *Allegedly*

So yes, the torpedoes run faster when active, to catch the fast ships. You lose range when active because of the faster battery consumption. That is modelled in the game. If you reload, they can hear that. That’s why you can’t reload while in silent running. Also, once you’ve identified a ship, look at it’s profile more closely. The Jiangwei has a helicopter deck at the back. Something to keep in mind. Cruise and anti-ship missiles are only best launched at targets like cargo ships or at-sea tenders. Most of the fighting ships are going to shoot them down, even if not aimed at them but, still get close enough. Personally, I only shoot torps at the warships. Unless you absolutely need to shoot, I try to wait for a better solution on them.

IIRC they need 10 db to detect you, and once detected, they need at least 0 db to hold contact. They can detect your torp launching when they have you at -30 db or better.

Thanks for the refresher. That all rings a bell now that you mention it, except I didn't know about the -30 db, cool!

Okay, so I popped opened my Cold Waters game and am playing the same campaign. I agree, deep water is good, shallows are bad. 🙂
@TortugaPowerАй бұрын
Just wait until you need to TLAM launch in shallow...
@guvyygvuhh298Ай бұрын
I think the differences between the TASM and harpoon are launch detection and interception. From my experience, harpoons don't give away your location when fired (at all or the range is much smaller) but can be destroyed. TASMs tell the enemy exactly where you are but they are either very hard to destroy either impossible, never seen any ship fire AA guns at one

Why you not installed any mods? Like dot mod and epic mod?

My option on this campaign is it’s very easy till it’s not if your running the la you will crush every thing till the final mission you will suffer in that and the same applies to the sea wolf but the final is much easier with the extra tubes you have

You dove to fast thats why you lost the wire!And yes,aktive Torps are faster,but have less range then!

You are correct that waves will bend as they travel through different densities, but its slightly different when it comes to the layers you see on the condition panel. They form because water of different temperature and salinity will form layers between each other, and the boundary between these layers will reflect and/or refract any soundwaves.
@TortugaPowerАй бұрын
That is also my understanding: layers are a localized anomaly in the density-depth gradient -- I guess for reasons that you state, although the physics of this I don't understand. I mention this in Ep 3 or 4 too , you may be able to contribute to my understanding then :)
@guvyygvuhh298Ай бұрын
The game does actually give a fairly detailed explanation of how layers and ducts work and how they affect sound
