As a side note, there once was a YT video of Chris performing Paradise on acoustic guitar only in a small club (possibly in the AHFOD era?) Unfortunately, this video doesn’t seem to exist anymore. At any rate, I can’t find it. What I do remember though is that the guitar was not in standard tuning (pooossibly it was EADGCC, no capo). I also remember that Chris started playing the song, but the tuning was still wrong, so Chris tried tuning it himself, but couldn’t remember the correct tuning :D So he gave the guitar back to his tech, who then helped Chris out. Aaaanyways. Fun video, interesting tuning, but it appears to be lost forever now. Oh well. In case anyone does actually find the vid after all, I’d be over the moon if you could share it with me :D As it is, I wasn’t too crazy about playing the song in EADGCC, since one, I wasn’t even sure if that is what Chris did, and secondly, it just works soooo well in standard tuning that I just rolled with it, you know? :) *ELECTRIC GUITAR* Power Chords for intro / re-intro + pre-chorus Chords needed: G5: 3-5-(5)-x-x-x C5: 8-10-(10)-x-x-x D5: 10-12-(12)-x-x-x F5 oct: 13-15-(15)-x-x-x Bb5: 6-8-(8)-x-x-x C/E: 12-15-x-x-x-x Structure: G5, C5, D5, F5 oct, C (intro/re-intro) x3 Bb5, F5 oct, C/E Bb5, F5 oct, C5 (pre-chorus) Lead Guitar Chorus: “Chord 1”: x-x-x-12-11-15 “Chord 2”: x-x-x-10-10-13 (bar chord with index finger on x-x-x-10-10-10) “Chord 3”: x-x-x-12-13-15 Structure: Chord 1 (for two bars) Chord 2 (for one bar) Chord 3 (for one bar) Play four times for one full chorus. Play in alternating down- and up-strokes (quaver notes (if you count 140 bpm as 4/4, otherwise those would be semi-quavers, I guess…) ------------------- For the transition between Verse 1 and 2, play 15 on the high e-string (quaver notes with 1/16 delay, or do the delay-effect manually…pretty gnarly though - I used delay :D) ------------------- Verse 2 continues that high 15 on the e-string. I also improvised a little riff for half two, inspired by something I heard Jonny do in a few live performances: - - - - - - - - 13 (e-string) 15-13-15 - - - (b-string) - - - - - - - - - - - x8 ------------------- Solo Starts with a slide up, on the “3” count of previous bar. Start with x-x-x-5-5-x Slide up to: x-x-x-15-15-x (on G-minor) “Chord 2”: x-x-x-15-13-x (on Bb-major) “Chord 3”: x-x-x-14-13-x (on F-major) “Chord 4”: x-x-x-12-13-x (on C/E, or C-major, respectively) That’s it - for the studio version. Live though, Jonny adds a few notes between the “chords”. On the second round of the solo, after playing the second “chord”, Slide up to 18 on the b-string. Only slide up though, don’t play the note with your finger/pick. After playing the fourth “chord”, Slide up to 17 on the b-string. Again, only slide up, don’t play the note with your finger/pick. On round 3 and 4 of the solo (when the vocals come back in), The “in-between” notes change to: 17 on the e-string (after chord 2) 15 on the e-string (after chord 4) 13 on the e-string (after chord 2) 17 on the b-string (after chord 4), finish by sliding up to 18, don’t play the note. …That last part is improvised by me, Jonny doesn’t do that, I think. But the riff felt incomplete to me, so I added some flourishes to it lol.

*RE-UPLOAD because of audio issues* I'm so sorry, folks, but I decided to re-upload the video because of some weird audio compressor that KZbin apparently uses...It completely messed up the dynamics of my recording/production. I'm so sorry about all the comments you'd already posted, which are now gone :( :( But I assure you, I saw all of them and really appreciated them as usual! Special shout-out to @kennydooo, who dug up the obscure live video where Chris - tries to - perform Paradise on acoustic guitar but the tuning's all messed up :D which I referred to in my original comment. Here it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpynZmqYmrmtd9U Once again, I'm so, so sorry about this; I know re-uploading is lame, but I just couldn't accept the poor upload audio quality (the initially uploaded version sounds totally fine on my end/desktop, - oh well...). Thank you for understanding! Today, I already got working on Something Just Like This again, which I started before all the MM stuff started happening, so it's been lying on my desk half-finished for a while now...I'll shoot the music video next week, do all the video editing... - expect a release early August (*fingers crossed* lol...) Thank you, folks, I appreciate all of you :) Jo

omg, I couldn't even do the re-upload without running into complications. As it is, there's still a relic of the compression issue (, which now also messed up parts of the tutorial audio that I couldn't possibly fix anymore) at 8:16. Second re-upload (!!!) that I tried had the same exact issue in the tuto section, but even worse, so now I just left it as it is. I'm so, so sorry about this, guys. I promise: lesson learned - will do better next time :) :D Cheers, Jo

great cover and tutorial as always jo! do you have any tips for singing
@JoZeeland6 ай бұрын
Hey there, thanks so much! Appreciate your support, as always :) Obviously, I'm not a professional singer, so I can only give advice on some general things... I guess it's important to find a room (both physically and mentally) where you feel completely free to explore your voice and singing style, range, etc. - and try to find your own voice. I never really tried to sound like singer X or Y. When I look back at my first recordings of me singing, gosh I can't stand it :D But it also helps to see your own progress now, you know? So I guess it's good to measure yourself only against your own standards and don't compare to other singers. Try recording yourself now, sing, sing, sing, keep recording and see how your voice develops over time. So, no matter how "objectively of a good singer" you are, you can at least see some progress just for yourself. Little bit of a longwinded, rambly answer, but I hope it still helps :D It did for me for sure :) Best of luck - Jo

Hi Jo, Vincent again, in the same time of "feellike imfallinginlove" and "paradise" tuto, I've just watched your "the scientist" version. Is there a way, a tuning, to play both acoustic and electric guitar riff (slights bends) with a single guitar please? You know I play alone with acoustic guitars Thanks a lot
@JoZeeland6 ай бұрын
@@ChristelleFEVRE-d9n Hey Vincent! Thank you, as usual :) In that case, I would recommend you use the very "tuning" I use for Paradise here - so literally just standard with a capo on 1. If you play F-major as 0-12-x-10-0-0, the bend can be done on the A-string (half-bend). Hope that helps :) Jo

Hey Jo, how are you? Well, a few (hope intersting) things to tell you if you got the kindness to read me : - First, congrats again for both "fallinginlove" and especially "paradise". So much and so great job to find all chords variety and sublety. - I've been working hard on them and I think I "got it"! - About "fallinginlove", in my opinion but maybe I'm wrong, in the verse part of the verses, that's not only a C and Csus4 chord. That'would be rather a C and F/C (or C/F) . That's why I prefer playing C X30010 and F/C or C/F 130211 relative to the capo. What do you think about it? - I've found two videos from Chris playing "technicolor II" and "violet hill" in EADGC#C# kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHO5lKGYirR_Z8k&ab_channel=JackWorl kzbin.info/www/bejne/mX_NdGifrdR7hpY&ab_channel=CPL1 Chords easy to find with classic thumb on E string. - About "viva la vida", I got a tuning that may interest you but I guess not given that you're stronger than me by far : CGCDGD capo 1 with main chords (relative to capo) : X54500, X76700, X07000, 444000. Or 002200, 220000, X02000 and 444000. - I'm not offended at all but I could't help noticing that you mentionned the name of a person in your "paradise" video. Maybe could be my turn one day :) - If you got something to share about Coldplay's songs with, obviously alternate tunings (I like that!), with some clues (not details), that would be awesome... Thanks again for what you do Vincent
@JoZeeland6 ай бұрын
@@ChristelleFEVRE-d9n Hey Vincent, thank you for your thoughts and kind words, appreciate them as always! As for Feels Like..., I did incorporate that C to Csus4 chord change - however, only in the standard tuning acoustic, which I used to emulate the electric piano that plays single chords. The alt tuning guit, I meant as an imitation of the electric piano that plays more rhythmically, but sounds like it stays on octaved C's constantly. Hope that clears things up:) Viva, I play differently (cf what Chris does with the song on acou. in the Howard Stern performance), but obviously there's an infinite number of ways you can play it! Yours sounds interesting too. The double C# tuning, I was aware of, yes :) Will share my thoughts on that once I get working on my Viva project. Cheers and thank you once more - Jo
