Can someone explain to me why Abate never gets 3 points for the sequence after the crucifix when he ends up in north-south?

North-south isn't a pointed position and he got to the crucifix from turtle..so I guess he technically didn't pass the guard?...ibjjf rules are always fun.

Prior to the crucifix, Cole gets a near pass but his opponent goes to turtle to avoid it before 3s. So Cole gets an advantage for a near point scoring position. From turtle, Cole goes to crucifix, the key detail here is that turtle is NOT ruled to be a guard by IBJJF standards and therefore no point can be attributed for going from turtle to crucifix. Equally, going from crucifix to north south, there is no guard being passed and north south does not receive points on its own (unlike mount/back control).

You don't get points from getting a position but from transitions, he didn't pass the guard, he got the north south from a crucifix-turtle transition, so, no guard pass no points

He didn't control the position long enough for it to be a guard pass. It has to be for 3 to 4 secs to get points. Dude turtled so no points awarded.

He just turned 18 and got promoted to brown belt last month. You need to hold the belt for a year before the next belt per ibjjf guideline
