As of '24, my dream kits are the Mapex Saturn Evolution Birch kit in either the blue fade finish or the new Aegean fade, or the Versatus kit in either the gold sparkle or the satin black. As of now, I get myself the Sabian Complex and Legacy lines, but I'd love to acquire the Artisans. I currently use Promark and Evans.

Mine is decently close, but I’ll spec out from the ground up for this comment: 6 Piece kit: Bass/Toms: Birch/Walnut blend 22x16, 10x6.5, 12x7, 14x12, 16x14 all with 45 to round-over bearing edges and diagonal seam plies. 6 ply toms and 8-12 ply kick Snare would be a Nebe Drum Co Titanium snare, and if I could somehow fabricate Pearl’s freefloater system in a 13” diameter I would totally do that for the snare That would be one of the greatest sounding modern metal drum kits in the world I think

The DW Performance kit is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. My goal with that kit was to have a large kit in a finish that matches most stages with a variety of sizes that I could swap out to cover most gigs. I usually never play it as the full 7pc kit, I usually just pick and choose to suit what I want to play. As far as a dream kit, I mostly have my bases covered. Would be cool to have an exotic kit of some sort that never leaves the house for a gig. Maybe a DW Collectors in an exotic wood or finish that looks like furniture. But for as much playing as I do these days, I pretty much have my bases covered.

(Around 10k for every single Item) I would say Definitely a 50’s Progressive Jazz (Round Badge) but with a twist-same sound and everything but with stuff that is easier to work with, such as rims that can actually fit modern heads😅 and then in green sparkle and with gold hardware. Snare, would go with Canopus snare, I can’t remember the name but the recording studio one that was like 1000$+. I would also go with flat based hardware, but something still durable like Gibraltar. Obviously Coated ambassadors would go on that puppy, and a Yamaha FP9 Bass drum pedal. Finally Cymbals, main ride would be a K Constantinople Medium Thin Low ride or A Renaissance Ride, both 20”. Left side ride would be a Bosphorous 20” Black Pearl Ride with 2-3 rivets depending on how I’m feeling. For my other right side cymbal I would either go with a Vintage 50’s-60’s Mel Lewis Swish Knocker A Ride, or a A Avedis 22’ with 5-6 rivets. Hijats would be K custom Dark hats or the sand hats that ZackGrooves has. Toss in a pearl utility snare drum tuned to a timbale pitch, a nice drum rug and some extra cymbal sizzlers, a 12 pack of drum keys and a big fat snare drum, and I think that will do it.

Okay, so my dream kit would be Yamaha Maple Custom, set-up 18/14, 8/7, 10/8, 12/8, 14/14, 16/14, 14/5,5 snare. That's the set that Dave Weckl played in 1990s, I saw him on this kit in a concert with Mike Stern, Jeff Andrews and Bob Malach in Warsaw. A really singing kit, that's really what got me into jazz drumming. Dave had it in green, I would rather have it in natural wood colour. Also, Dave played two suspended toms, I might have two floor toms. More realistically, for jazz just the same brand and same line, a simple 4-piece kit, Maple Custom / Absolute, in natural wood, but with a 14/14 floor tom and the classic lugs. That's a kit I know the price of, sitting around 4000 USD. I have the snare drum of that series, so having the rest of it would be great. Next, for more rock-oriented stuff, a John Bonham Ludwig set-up, but definitely not as large, 22/14, 12/8, 14/14, 16/14, not vistalite, rather mahogany, with 14/5,5 Supraphonic. That's another 4000 USD at least? And last, back to jazz, a Gretch Braodcaster bop kit with Jasper shells. So much tone.

My dream kit is probably something with very thin shells, potentially poplar wood, but 2.3mm hoops and re-rings, so that’s it’s lightweight and super resonant. Probably rounded bearing edges so that resonant doesn’t go too wild, the hoops help with that too. I’m probably then hunting for a vintage kit, or one of the modern vintage remakes.

The nicer the kits are, the harder it is to tell them apart IMO. They all sound great and work great, so it feels like hyper cars, where they're tweaking to get that last 2% of quality. That said, I still think about the video from Memphis Drum Shop where they had a 14x6 DW/Sabian Vault Edge snare. It sounded absolutely perfect. It was a limited edition run going for like $2500 at that time, so it's probably worth a lot more now. The video is 10 years old now, but I still daydream about running into that snare every now and again.

Like you, I was incredibly lucky (and after saving up for a long time!) to be able to buy what I would consider my dream kit last year - a Sonor SQ2 Maple kit in Nussbaum Hilite finish (it's the least expensive SQ2 finish but looks fantastic!). Love it to death and have no plans to use anything else for the foreseeable future (apart from gigs where I need bop sizes). I'll give you a rundown of the setup - I promise that I'm not trying to show off, I just love going into nerdy detail about these things! Toms are medium maple and the sizes are 10x8", 12x9", 15x13" and 18x15" (for a lot of gigs, I just use the 12" and 15") with Coated Emperor batter heads. Bass drum is heavy maple with a tom holder on it (essential imo!) and is 22x16" with a Clear Powerstroke 3 batter head. There are 3 main snares I'm now using with the kit which are the 14x6" Sonor Prolite Brass with a Coated CS batter head for contemporary pop/rock music, the 14x5" Beverley Cosmic 21 aluminium for a more vintage pop sound and the 14x6" Tama SLP Fat Spruce for jazz, as well as low thuddy sounds - the last 2 both with Coated Ambassador batters. Between those 3 snares, I feel like I pretty much have all the sounds that I need covered. Then I also have a 10x2" Sonor Jungle snare with a Coated CS batter, and with the jingles removed that I use as an auxiliary snare for some gigs. Cymbals are all Zildjian and basically just a collection of my favourite cymbals which luckily all sound great together! The setup I use with my originals band L to R goes 18" A Custom EFX, 10" FX Trashformer, 6" A Splash, 15" K Light Hi-Hats, 17" K Sweet Crash, 21" K Custom Dark Complex Ride, 16" EFX Hats (A Custom EFX on top, K EFX on bottom - though I'm still looking for a 2nd hand K EFX to complete this one!), 18" K Dark Crash, 18" A Custom China. I love using electronic sounds and samples with the kit, so I have a Roland SPD-SX sample pad for those (hoping to upgrade to the Pro version some point in the next year or so). In addition, I have a few Roland triggers which I'll position on the kit depending on the situation - they include 2 BT-1 Bar Pads, 2 KT-10 Kick Triggers, an RT-30K Bass Drum Trigger and an RT-30H Trigger for the snare. The idea behind this kit was both to get a really great sound, and have something that was as versatile as it possibly could be and would excel in just about any situation. Happy to say I think I got it! I love gear but I'm not a collector. I prefer to buy in a very calculated way that results in having a relatively small(-ish!) amount of gear of a really high quality and has all bases covered. So yeah, super happy with this setup and don't really wish for anything more tbh!

I lost the two floors at the end of the grunge era (crazy days) so Jerry made me a new 16x16. The unique thing about mine is that it has chromed lugs. His brother hand machined the lugs out of solid brass and Jerry usually clear coated them but I wanted chrome… I see a Garcia kit once in a blue moon, but never another with chromed lugs.

I've got most of what i've always dreamt of having to be honest. Couple dozen Byzance cymbals that cover all the sounds I could ever need. A treasure trove of Tama Roadpro hardware and speed cobra/iron cobra pedals and hi hat stands. Best hardware on earth no question. Couple snares that stand out are my 90's Yamaha brass piccolo (yes, that one), 14x5 90's Dave Weckl Maple, and 1966 14x5 Supraphonic in suuuper clean condition (which i just got and am super hyped about!). Got a few Modern Tama Snares as well, 5.5" SLP Bronze, 6.5" Starclassic Maple, and a 7" Starphonic Copper. Kits wise, I've got 3. A 1978 Tama Imperialstar in 13x9,16x16,22x14. 80's Gretsch USA Custom in black nitron 12x8,13x9,16x16,22x14. (Which was my dream kit for a few years before acquiring it.) I also special ordered and just recently received a 14x14 to match it which is really really sweet. Finally I've got a custom configuration Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch in 10x8,12x8, 16x16, 18x16, and 22x14. Dave Elitch/Thomas Pridgen Config which was also always a dream of mine to own. You've probably seen the "Thomas Pridgen plays DW Drums" vid from many years ago. Well in that vid he played a kit that we're those exact sizes and ever since then I'd always wanted a kit like it. Now I have it! Super blessed to work at a drum store and be able to get stuff at a discount compared to the normal prices. Definitely helps justify the ridiculous spending lol! The only thing I've got left to dream about is owning a bop kit! Especially a USA Custom bop kit. And considering I've already got a 12x8 and 14x14, all i need to do is special order an 18x14! Other than that, I'm constantly dreaming of building out my gretsch and tama kits into shell banks. I'd like to one day have 10,12, and 13 rack toms, 14,16, and 18 floor toms, and 18, 22, and 24 bass drums for both! Thats the dream right there!

Dream set? It's either a DW Collectors Exotic (something like yours really) or a Sonor SQ2 with a crazy exotic wood veneer. I'd love to be picky about the sizes and depths, the veneer and the shell makeup. But honestly it seems so unattainable that I haven't put a ton of thought into the details. I just know that I love the look of the exotic wood veneers. As for a snare? I'd find a boutique metal maker and have them custom build an aluminum, brass, copper and bronze snare all with the exact same sizes and specs.

@@ColeParamore i love them! I actually put together my set piecemeal through reverb, so my kick, 12" and 13" toms are the classic cherry color, my 10" tom is cobalt, 14" tom is stage white, and my 15" tom is Hot Red! If i could find a tom in the amazing Jade color, id swap it in, and i still want to get a piano black tom too LMAO

Yo dawg I remember seeing a pic of Matt with that Craviotto kit on stage with Soundgarden! That’s a rad kit. I really want a gretsch shell bank some day, finish tbd, gretsch with die cast hoops just sound and feel right, love the dryness, stiff/responsive feel and woody projection. But a Craviotto kit is probably the real dream kit, if I were to pick one it would be cherry poplar, those new double flange hoops they got, 30 degree edges, 7.5x10, 8x12, 14x14, 14x16 ft/bd convertible w/ wood hoops, 15x20, 6.5x14 8 lug snare. Sometimes I toy with the idea of a copper sparkle lacquer on the outer band of cherry and leaving the inner band of poplar unpainted.

Fun topic! I’ve always loved vintage Ludwig’s. At the moment, I have the kit I wanted as a kid for a loooong time, found a good deal on Reverb a few years back. It’s a used Ludwig Club Date SE from the 2010s, downbeat config (20/14/12 w/ matching 5x14 snare) in Olive Sparkle. It looks and sounds amazing (I’ve been meaning to post a proper video of it, but haven’t gotten around to it yet). Cherry/Gum shells with full roundover edges. Cymbal wise, I love the washy 60s cymbals. I ended up with a set of 1970s Zildjian’s that are on the thin side. They’re so musical in the mix. If I had the cash for a custom, definitely a Ludwig Legacy Mahogany in blue olive oyster (with white interiors), that’s probably my favorite Ludwig finish. But I love so many of the Ludwig wraps, including sky blue pearl and 1970s bowling ball black oyster. I’d really like to try or get my hands on some Istanbul Agop Traditional Jazz cymbals, they sound pretty versatile.

If I'm going to dream,it would have to be a brand new set of Brady, or the lake Superior DW kit brand new.If I would of known Brady was going out of business I would have shot a wad of cash on one of them kits. Those to me are some of the finest ever built.cymbal wise all meinl private reserve.

My dream Drum Kit would be a Tama Starclassic Walnut Birch in Molten Brown Burst in a 22x14, 12x8, 14x12, 16x14 all outfited with UV2s on the tops and G1s on the bottom. For snares i would use a tama G-Bubinga 14x6 with die cast hoops added on and a 14x7 starphonic walnut all with either a HD Dry or ST Dry Depending on the gig I would use a Tama Dyna Sync Double Pedal with speed cobra beaters, Full Roadpro hardware, For cymbals i would go Zildjian K Fat Hats 14', K Splash 10, K Sweet Crash 18, K Sweet Ride 21, and an A traditional sweet ride as a right hand crash (Like Craig Reynolds), A 19' Ultra Hammered China, K custom Trash Crash 19' All would be played with Promark 747B or Promark 747

I don't have a "favorite" drumset or snare. Way too many choices.😛 Must be nice you've gotten to play so many Drumset's that you can narrow it down to a Green Craviotta (Not a bad choice) . I can tell you what isn't my "Dream set", the $30k Canopus set at 2024 NAMM. (Not that I have 30k to spend on a Drum set lol)🤣😂🤣

Yamaha PHX or Sonor SQ2….destroys DW Collectors, Pearl Masterworks, Ludwig Legacy/Classic, and Gretsch USA kits acoustically. The PHX in an natural Ash veneer, the SQ2 with scandi birch toms + beech kick. I already have a birch custom absolute and oak custom, they’re perfect, but those 2 kits are the dream
