Because of your fantastic teaching, I have really learned the effectiveness of ensuring rhymes are in the right place and that they don't flow over to the next bar by mistake, when they were supposed to be most effective at the end of the previous bar, for example!! Yoo , dont know if your still about at all . Thank you . I have messed around with rap for a while . A lot of the people I use to cypher with have actually done really well the past few years . Not to brag but they were always really impressed with my wordplay etc The fact i could go off the top at any time . However I wpuld always get lost counting baš etc as i found it hard to count while also rapping . You have helped me loads receantly and now I have a firme grip when it co.es to cou ting them and cutting some faz . So thank you . Also big ups for doing so much work for free !! When I have a barstest okay have it fine but every 4strike have different strikes like one have 12,3,4 others have 1,234 when I written or even write the the sylables on the Beat how i am able to bring the text in the 4strikes ?

I have a really big question maybe I wasn’t listening and I’ve always been a visual learner so I’m not understanding how do you know when the exact moment to space any word on the bar sheet for example Your first bar I’ve been com- pared to How did you know where to go into the next bar and map that on the bar sheet I have an idea I’m thinking you wrote it first or maybe when you wrote it on the bar sheet first you played the beat , counted the bar 1,2,3,4 and if the beginning of your word goes into the 2nd beat after the first than you’d finish it in the next And if it’s a full word or two words in one 1,2,3,4 beat you would match up And also with your breathes, how do you know where to put the breathes did you play the beat and rap on beat to know you had to take a breathe or is it something different FYI this maybe as simple as pie or maybe am I over complicating it I just want to make sure I’m doing this correctly I’ve made full albums off straight freestyle and got some pretty good new but it doesn’t sound like how I personally want it to and this is a big fundamental for me please play me know as soon as you can please.

Thanks for your question, no you're not overthinking this, you're actually on the right track to fixing why your freestyles didn't sound they way you wanted. The short answer is, we do this by ear. And by ear I mean ear training to hear musical timing. Most new rappers focus on writing first without realizing rap is R.A.P, Rhythm and Poetry. The rhythm is the musical side most rappers are lacking and that's why their flow suffers so much. An easy way is to record your vocals into a DAW and use the metronome to hear which syllables land on each beat. If you're not comfortable using DAW's yet (Digital Audio Workstation Pro Tools, FL Studio, Garage Band etc..) just use Bandlab for your phone/tablet. I hope this helps Kent! @cole thanks for the video. Can you do an analysis of Kendrik Lamar good kid verse 3 analysis "All I see in this room: 20's, Xannies and these 'shrooms... " I couldn't nail it as is. He breathes on the 2nd bar and then it goes on straight without stopping for the breath without losing energy in his voice. It seems impossible. It's it really done in a single breath??

This is really good. I'm not gone lie at first I thought this was bullshit but as a really unorganized kid, this really helps out getting that refined edge, so far my process is to just write what I wanna express, write rhymes an freestyles to the beat, then I refine but rewriting little words to make it sound better, then take it to the bar sheet Wich gives it that organized refined edge

He made a mistake. He wrote a 16 bar verse but divided it into 8 bars. 1-2 is a bar and 3-4 is another bar. It should actually be twice as long.

Not necessarily, It's simply how long the syllable is being held which often times is dictated by the type of cadence you're going after.
