They don't want to do anything but sit around and play games and and be on their phone talking to their friends and it's just so nice to sit down with you every time you put a video out and you show me that good values are still there because your father know your father said that you did it yourself started from a very young age wanting to be responsible and stuff. And that just shows that there is still good people in the world that there is still hardworking Farmers out there. That's one of the biggest reasons that I got hooked on your show it reminds me of how hard work can get you somewhere and how if you are a hard worker and caring worker it shows in everything that you do in life. I'm just amazed at how much you accomplished young man. So enough words said oh, you got a subscriber that's going to follow you guys cuz I do enjoy all the stuff about farming.

Hey Cole ...it’s going to look absolutely amazing! As a person who has had many decks built on many homes may 8 suggest you look into incorporating lighting in the deck stairs and also consider an over sized stair tread (or the depth of the tread)...it looks so lovely to have a few potted plants on the deeper stairs in the summer and winter simple greenery branches and some twinkle lights that operate on batteries are a very inexpensive but really amazing little touch. I sense that you plan on spending lots of quality time on your porch things like stair lighting and extra deep steps just make for a really lovely look but more importantly the lights are extremely useful not a big cost ( I’ve always done solar) and the extra deep steps are also really awesome for those who have mobility problems and they are also great for sitting when you have big family gatherings on the porch. Just some things to think about.

I have a feeling if we ever see the end of the house construction and grove cleaning (5+ years by my estimates). The next thing will be another storage building of some kind

The house will look beautiful! I would like to see you put in a pool for swimming. Your videos are interesting as they are, good job!

Why aren't you putting the stairs in line with the door instead of the bay window? Seems to me it would make getting in and out of the house more convenient.

I love Brownie!!! He’s such a joy on the farm. I love when you do work on the house-I can’t wait to see it done and shingled. But I really am looking forward to the day when all the junk is out of the future alfalfa field and the abandoned grove! What a beauty your property will be!

Cole is not the type to pander. I think he (a) wants us to participate and be part of the Cornstar community and (b) see if somebody comes up with a really great idea!

Cole, I'm a retired builder in West Des Moines. I applaud you for renovating your family's old farm house. My suggestion for your third floor gable is A) Nothing is maintenance free. B) Retain the look of your old cedar "fish scale" shingles but use Hardiplank cement precolored cement shingle panels or buy actual cedar shake panels. (I can't remember who manufactured the ones I used. Ask your plumber dealer) Both come in several shake shapes in approx 5' x 2' panels, easy and fast to put up and require minimal maintenance. ( The cement panels need repainting maybe 10-15yrs depending on exposure side of house and the cedar panels if you prestain with 2 coats of an exterior UV light blocking stain/coating (I used Sherwin Williams on my house) you'll get 4-8 yrs before recoating.)) Either would look awesome up there!! I built a house by Saylorville Lake back in 98 with the cedar panels in all the gables and they still look brand new! Good luck!!

My granddad called all of his dogs Rex. My mom wanted a puppy, my dad did too so he said she could get it if she named him Rex. Rex was a good dog.

Remember when you have a lot of covered porch, you have a lot of outdoor maintenance and cleaning to do. It will need to be swept, porch furniture cleaned and dusted. You may have snow removal to do in the winter months, too. It's all looking good!
