I feel really bad for Colin. Like, I wanna meet him really bad but I just kinda wanna chat like two human beings not crazed fans. I kinda messed up the last time I met someone famous. I was late for class at my university and I literally ran into Frank Oz but I mean he was cool about it. So hopefully if I meet Colin, it'll be the same (without running into him lol)

This makes me so uncomfortable. He clearly comes out in the beginning apologizing and says “it’s just not the right time”, which means he just wants to go. But he’s too nice to ignore the birthday presents so he sticks around to appreciate them. There’s also that moment where he signs something by barely even writing a line, it seems like he’s annoyed.

I didn't think he was annoyed. Just hassled poor soul. It must be very daunting to be mobbed like that though I can understand fans wanting to see him. Difficult to know how to meet your idol without invading their space and privacy.

This was 9 years ago. When he was around 25. Feeling claustrophobic is normal for introverts sometimes. Even now in my mid 30s i feel like that sometimes. My most comfort zone is being alone heh. May be he was just out of the theater, needing a little rest to himself at the end of a hard day. Constant crowds can be tiring. I wish these actors get more personal space sometimes. He is the sweetest person , still being kind and gentle. He should be protected by all means! If i was ever lucky to meet him, i would like to talk to him as a best friend.

I always cringe so hard when I see stuff like this, I mean sure it's great your work is appreciated, but if you're constantly crowded by people wanting photos, autographs and hand you stuff it must be really hard to stay nice. I don't think I could be so patient if people shoved a camera in my face all the time... Just stick to meet and greets, conventions, etc. There they know lots of people are coming and are prepared and fine with it. If they're out in the street, just leave them alone, or simply smile and walk by. Don't force yourself on them, especially when they're rather shy and like to keep to themselves. Just look at him, he's clearly uncomfortable

What's with the claustrophobia? There only seems to be 6 people around him. It's odd - he seems both meek and assertive. He's behaving a little like he was abused and fears being touched. I suppose when you have fans as crazed as his you might feel a little uncomfortable surrounded by them. I don't know how I would be in the same situation. He's still totally adorable, though.

I think some of it might stem from his childhood in Northern Ireland, at which point in time there was a lot of terrorist trouble, which can probably lead to feeling uncomfortable around strangers.

To be fair though I feel a little claustrophobic when there's crowds of people around me. I hate the feeling of not being able to move freely. Plus some people have no sense of personal space. These people may not have been able to help it though as it looks like they're at the front of the Theatre with a narrow pavement and a road behind them.

Narlth L That's a good point. He's also mentioned being an actor wasn't OK where he grew up which suggests some bullying. If so, I can understand that - I was a classical musician in a conservative area, not fun at times.

I wouldn't read too much into his claustrophia...I guess he was just tired and didn't want to have so many people around him at that moment. I know this feeling...though while most people would get totally cranky, he gets polite, shy and says "sorry" a lot. Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with having been abused and bullied as a kid (that's a mere assumption anyways), or growing up in a country rife with terrorism. That being said, cudos to the Chineses fans, seems like they really really put some effort into that birthday present.
