@@pythonxz I've never personally looked into that dude before. But man... Danny is truly one of the greatest drummers I've ever heard besides Travis Barker.... Tool fans are too much obsessed with complexity and yes Tool makes rhythmically very complex songs, but I think this song in some ways is way better, because of its emotional impact and their subsequent albums, as this is a relatively early song, seem a bit too much focussed on form (complexity) and less so on content and I think form should serve content and not the other way around, but that's obviously just my personal view. I mean all their work is exceptional and they are exceptional musicians and yes, I've seen the Danny cam performance of Pneuma about a hundred times, but personally in the end I got a bit bored with the complexity for complexity's sake. I can and do admire it, but it doesn't do much for me musically, but this song right here, never ever get bored with it, always a punch to the stomach, which I think good rock should always go for. Maynard is just effing amazing in this performance, goose bumps every time. Don't get angry Tool army, just one opinion and I do consider them one of the best bands of the 90's up to now.

Be prepared for the tool army to be here in 3..2..1🤣 My advise is only do audio versions of songs (besides the Danny Carey drum cam of ‘pneuma’ of course). You don’t want to get lost in the music videos. And keep listening through the headphones. The mixing is amazing as well. So many great songs to listen to, I’m sure everyone will try and get you to listen to their favourite. No matter which ones you listen to, you will hear some of the best drumming ever. Also not quite underground, they have won 4 Grammy’s and have sold nearly 14 million albums.😉

The Tool Army shall descend. :-) All the members are world class musicians (drummer Danny Carey is arguably one of the best drummers of all time). Yet as they say, sometimes the sum is greater than the parts. Tool as a band is on a level nearly alone, surpassing what might be expected from considering the individual members' talents and skills.

I like your perspective as a non-rock listener. There is a lot of judgment toward rock as it being “angry” but in reality it is EMOTIONAL. Growing up(I’m now in my late 30s and still a rock fan) having access to these artists who were really delving into and exposing their emotional selves was probably one of the most important parts of my adolescence. Lyrics and singing aside, even the musicianship of the band and the instruments as a portal for emoting is incredibly powerful. A think rock music has honestly saved a lot of people and acted as a form of therapy in a world that’s very afraid of facing feelings.

Great reaction, by the way. Keep reacting to TOOL and "Tool Army" will show up. They're a band of trained artists that produce some really unique and masterful music. And they're a view and sub magnet, especially since their newest album was released a couple of years ago after a 13 year hiatus (the lead singer has two other bands, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer - you'll probably really appreciate A Perfect Circle). All of their songs are masterpieces (some truly are, some are just really fucking awesome lol). But TOOL's standout tracks (to really get an introduction to their style and skill) are: Vicarious, Right in Two, Jambi, The Pot, Lateralus (also an album title - look up the Fibonacci sequence relation if you're interested in geometry and nature), The Grudge, Ænema, Parabol and Parabola (two tracks that need to be played together), Fear Inoculum, Descending, Invincible (these three are from their newest album) - and honestly anything else from them.

Song is about his best friend who struggled with alcohol & drug addiction. His best friend and friend of the band was always drunk and high because he felt he couldnt function without, he felt his work best came out when he was high and then he passed away after Maynard and the band tried to get him to stop but of course that didnt happen and yes hes playing a roll.. Maynard also has sever anxiety and stage fright, in most of his videos not this one but hes usually standing in the background..

It could be quite surprising to see just how wide a range metal spans, specifically in the themes and lyrical aspects; there’s the stereotypical perception of bands like slayer or cannibal corpse (blood, gore, and all the rest of that) and on the other end you have deeply considered lyrics (which itself spans a range, with TOOL often going for deep philosophical messages and to lesser degrees albums like Death’s later work). Metal is a world of music all on its own. 😈

I suspect the the point, is that for a self hating addict the only way to feel worthwile after mistakes of the past is via forgiveness from others. However because the addict is still an addict by nature, they find a new substance to be addicted to. This new addiction comes in the form of forgiveness and the vicarious strength of others. The only way to get a fix for this new addiction is by "falling off the wagon" so that you can be forgiven again. This process repeats until you drive those who forgive you away.
