My mama used to get up at 5 a.m. and have a breakfast like this for us ,5 kids, before we caught the bus, but at 8 p.m. my mama was in the bed and my dad would play board games with us after working all day so we thought mama was sorta lazy but when I got married and had 3 children and kept my house clean like mama and cooked all the time I can see she was just give out......My dad worked hard also and at age 40 we lost him to a massive heart attack so we was so grateful that he took up a lot of time with us.

So sorry that you lost your dad at such an early age😥 My mom made breakfast for us when we were young, but once we hit high school, we were on our own for breakfast...Instant Breakfast was very new in those days, so, that's what I had and always tried to give my younger sisters something more substantial.
@brendafoster47122 жыл бұрын
My dad used to make breakfast for us on the weekends and on our birthday's, he'd make a special breakfast for just the birthday girl and himself...he'd get us up very early so we could have our "special' breakfast before he left for work. He'd slice an orange in half and stick a birthday cake candle in it and sing happy birthday to us...those breakfast moments with dad were the absolute best!!!

I, also, didn't appreciate just how hard my Momma worked to keep a clean home for the 8 of us. As the eldest she always relied on me to help her with the newest baby. She always was sitting on the radiators by the front windows to see that we had come home safely from school each day, so I too had taken that moment of rest as laziness. In fact, we had an old wringer washing machine in the basement. After manhandling the wash around the tubs of soapy and rinse water wringing out the excess water, in good weather she physically carried wet laundry up and out to hang it on the clothes lines. There was nothing like the smell of clean fresh line dried linen, but by the time I had become a young woman, anything line dried came back inside covered with tiny specks of charcoal (Detroit). My mother's knees eventually gave out to arthritis, and we finally lost her to cancer. I guess my point is to appreciate the extraordinary efforts that your mom has been willing to make for you while you still have the pleasure of her company. (Note: This video reminded me that we also had a cinnamon sugar shaker that we used for toast. The family kept a freezer full of Wonderbread to keep young tummies full.)

Hi everyone! I've pretty bad arthritis and am too surviving cancer!! God is so good. I can't hardly roll out biscuits anymore so I did it phone style with the sugar and cinnamon in the center of two pours of the batter. I added rasins to the batter. 375 for 40 minutes. So good, I used your icing recipe 😋 Thank you and God bless. My granny taught me to cook and i don't measure either, sorry.

I love that Tammy uses down home ingredients. You can just feel the love when she cooks. She has been doing this for a long time, so most of this is just second nature to her. Bet her Momma & Granny taught her how to cook. It's a real shame today that down home, made for scratch food seems to be a lost art. People are so busy today & everyone wants fast & easy. But there is NOTHING like good home cooking. Thank you both for sharing. GOD BLESS 😇❤️

I have to tell you about that sausage. I live up here in beautiful West Virginia and all we know how to say, when it comes to sausage, is Swaggerty's. Most of my life, that's all I ever eat. My 88yr old mom lives in a coastal Ga. resort area and was out for breakfast last week at a very exclusive restaurant- most of them are as its an island resort destination. She asked her server if he knew what kind of sausage they served. He said "Our chef won't allow anything in the kitchen except Swaggerty's!" My mom told him her daughter up a holler in W.V. wouldn't allow anything else in her kitchen, either!!! There's nothing out there to beat it. Love, love your videos.
