Love the 406 coupe, great looking car - probably one of the last decent Peugoet's. I used to park in that carpark between St Levans and Albert gates when I worked in the yard.

Thanks for the comment, the 406 Coupe was indeed one of the last decent Peugeots - 206, 306 and 406 were all pretty decent. Thanks for watching.

The 406 coupe is severely underrated in the Uk - its lovely that your featuring an example on your channel - i hope after your tenure of ownership it finds a loving home. They really are great cars especially the 3.0 V6.

Thanks for the comment and your thoughts on the 406. I have cover well over a thousand miles in the 406 Coupe so far and am really enjoying it as my "winter classic". I'll be sad to see it go when a potential new owner presents, but in the meantime I shall continue to enjoy the car on drier winter days. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video.

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. I am fortunate with the space, but as for the money... well, I am always short of money, but I struggle to turn these old cars down - it's a condition! 🤣 Great to know you enjoying watching the videos; I enjoy making them as they give me a way of sharing the cars. Thanks for watching.

What a car for a bag a sand fantastic I'm envious 💚 you were very brave driving it on motorway, i had that issue in my merc 190e i literally had seconds to pull over before the car cut out alternator failure.

Loved these back in the day and they've aged really well. Dad had a standard 406 and it drove and handled so well. I always looked out for these and was surprised how many stayed stock. I would have definitely fitted a wheel that filled those arches better, probably a Ferrari repro five spoke. Dropped the suspension a little too. These days you could even wrap it in an 'Italian' shade of your choice. ;) I'd go for yellow or black. Anyway, daydreaming again, hope it brings you many miles of enjoyment. :) Edit: Just got to the part where you turned off the Parkway. Saw the accident and had a wry smile. In my 33 years of driving, that junction is the only place I've ever had an accident. I was the car behind, there was no traffic coming from the right and the guy in front just stopped for no reason. Only a 5mph bump, so minimal damage, but I was properly annoyed. The guy had a crappy, old Micra. Was a farmer from Bigbury. Saw his huge wellies when he got out and can only assume they made him hit the wrong peddle. :)

Thanks for the comment. The 406 was (and remains) a brilliant car, I very much enjoyed my Estate c20 years ago as I am certain your Dad did with his. The Coupe is properly smart - I have always been a sucker for a coupe from the Ford Capri to the Probe and then the Cougar, as well as the 406 Coupe, Rover 200 Coupe and the Jaguar XKR (stay tuned as one is coming soon). As for the the footage coming off the A38, I am glad it brought back some 'fond' memories. 👍 Thanks for taking the time to watch.

Amazing that you made it on the battery alone. I only just managed to make the garage six miles away when my alternator fell off on the M8 (thanks Arnold Clark!).

Hi Andy a great find haven’t seen one of those for years but my optician has a red one he bought new in 1998 which he still owns and enjoys he has a very good number plate SPX!! It’s a Coventry number plate so wonder if it’s to do with the factory? With that warning lamp I was thinking bad earth or alternator did you have STOP on the display as well I thought it was a classic coupe and hope they are getting saved and enjoyed they deserve that status! Great Peugeot design at its best not like my current 308! Be great to see this one on the channel! All the best to you all Daniel

Hi Daniel, thanks for the comment. I’m certainly enjoying the 406; I’ve just taken it on a 500 mile work trip and it did brilliantly. Your optician owning one from new is amazing! As for the alternator, I had no idea”STOP” light and when I tested it, when I returned home, it was the alternator that needed changing - I was lucky to get a decent used one. 👍 Thanks for watching, as always.

I went to view a car at that November ACA and saw your 406 coupe, it needed a fair bit of paint but a V6 at that price with just an alternator fix to get it reliable it has to be good value. It has the makings of a lovely car.
@cornishcarcollectors21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I agree, it has the makings of a great car - in fact, I have just returned from a work trip and took the 406, driving it 468 faultless miles. The paint is poor, but mechanically it really is a very decent old car. Thanks for watching - did you buy anything at the auction?
@Lot76CARS20 күн бұрын
@ I was looking for a BMW 5 series E39 generation, but the car they had wasn’t exactly what I wanted and ended up going for an absolutely ridiculous price when some bidder got carried away.. in the end I bought a 22 year old one owner example elsewhere which ticked all the boxes.

You are not the only person to travel miles to buy a car unseen. 5 weeks ago, I went 5hrs by train to Bury St. Edmonds to collect an E61 525d Sport as the result of a comedy bid. We live in Gloucs. Previous distance picks up have been Telford, Peterborough, Welshpool & Chesterish. All bought from ebay. Did 1 from Autotrader in Coventry.

@@cornishcarcollectors it needs a new Turbot, but is epic. Almos9t 210k miles, its quieter than a Rolypoly. I have bough keepers b4 and sold them. E61, not a chance. Never failed to like a comedy bid purchase btw

Was it not cheaper to buy a new alternator rather than just buying battery's
@cornishcarcollectors23 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment - I could not source an alternator on collection day (I did try), so I bought the battery which can now go onto another of my cars as the original Peugeot battery was good. Just glad to make it home! Thanks for watching.

It's been clocked back on the mileage
@cornishcarcollectors21 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment, albeit I am not entirely sure the car has been "clocked". There is a mileage discrepancy where the car was regularly covering 4-5K miles per year and an MOT test erroneously record 118K miles when it should have been 113K (which I believe was corrected). I ran a report on the car prior to buying it and the car returns 'green' for odometer. Thanks for watching and for letting me know though, I appreciate it.
