Hi ive just picked up a purple blue X pack v6 cougar The car was so filthy and abused at 82k.The car has been not well looked after. I'm currently in the process of detailing the car and cleaning and softening the leather so it doesn't look too unacceptable...Is there any way of fitting a 6 soeed gearbox..? .I love this car but the motorway cruising speed is let down by the 5 speed gearbox...At 70 mph the engine is spinning at over 3500 revs...even with larger alloys fitted...The engine is so incredibly smooth and torquey but it is so high revving on the A roads...If this car was produced with the 3 litre V6 and six speed gearbox also with 4 wheel drive it would have been incredible...It desperately needs a six speed gearbox...Can I send you pictures..? I only paid 1k for it...

Brilliant motors. Miss them dearly 😊great video. I notice the rear wheel arches have been done , same with both of mine 😊😊😊

Lovely vid'. As a boring person who loves my cars, seeing the old models by the new ones just reinforced why I wouldn't want one of the new ones. They all look huge and heavy. My apathy plays a part but pretty well every new car looks the same. If environment was a real drive the cars would have size and weight limits. All parts would have to be straightforward to replace. Eg simple lamps, not huge and expensive clusters. Less sensors which complicate bumper replacement etc. Seats and boots not needing motors to move them. They're all using electricity which comes from somewhere. But, that's my grumpy take on it. Each to their own after all.

Love my cars but, I'm useless on the mechanics of the machines. Might the miss fire have been a small amount of slightly stale petrol, cured by topping up well with fresh?

Whilst there is understandable apathy towards electric cars - and the naming of the 'New' Capri is highly contentious, for Ford to survive in Europe as a car manufacturer and retailer we must try and understand and support their endeavours in trying to satisfy the challenges of the currently motoring landscape. My great grandfather was one of the very first Ford dealers in the Uk - he dealt directly with Henry Ford himself - the very thought now of actually losing Ford from Europe in the coming years was once unthinkable, it could now very seriously become a reality. Electric cars love them or loathe them, are now here and we must try to accept that - and judge the Capri on the merits against its electric car competitors. I for one dont want Ford to leave Europes shores. I think Vospers asking you to put your cars in their showroom was an incredibly savvy idea - and lovely to see 👍👍

Simons Puma seems to have the incorrect wattage stop and tail bulb in the nearside, or the offside... Also, why wouldn't you both check all the lights (essentials) before setting off to have your car featured in the showroom??? Especially with the Capri.🫤🙈🙈🙈 That showroom was obviously desperate.
@cornishcarcollectors9 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. We noticed Simon's Puma's bulb and he is on it (it of course meets the MOT requirement, but still needs addressing). As for the Capri's lights, they were all working when I popped the car in the barn a couple of months back and all were working when I did a walk around; however, I was on my own and could not test the brakes... which is the issue. It is a bad earth which I sorted before driving it home - screw needed tightening. Thanks for watching - the showroom were certainly keen to have the classics on site and they looked fab under the lights.

Great video as ever, love your collection and I’m looking forward to seeing more of the cosworth and also the Rover 820 hopefully. My partner recently got an electric Mercedes which surprisingly I’ve really loved driving and getting to know, they have many pro’s if you give them a chance but for me it’s not the electric drivetrain that’s the problem it’s the electronic Nannie’s that new cars are full of that constantly interfere with your pleasure as you drive, I find them intrusive and incredibly annoying!

I have owned my capri 2.8 injection for over 33 years now and she has been sat in the carport for over 4 and a half years. Many new parts later plus I lost 2 years due to being a key worker during covid and then having to work 2 jobs. Can’t say that I’m an EV fan, at the moment but we are at the genesis in this new breed so who knows what is to come, Simon’s comment was the most pertinent about what is to come in 10 years, I know and kinda understand the haters but they need to calm down and stay in their own lane, I’m sure with each generation of car development in the last hundred years there has been the same type of fear of the future from luddites but for now I’ll stick personally with internal combustion

I always slag off EVs, it's great having a heavy silent lump of rubbish driving past schools and through busy towns SILENT, a fantastic way to increase pedestrian accidents !! They are that heavy they are ruining our already damaged roads ! They are too wide for our parking spaces ! The pride in owning a car that looks like every other EV must be so satisfying 🤔. OH I've hired one of these useless things twice, once to go to Cornwall and again to go to Scotland --- never ever again ,, chargers not working or working extremely slowly cause others were charging ! 👀. Plus the price of the charge was as expensive as normal fuel .. All fact

Actually think they are more dangerous in many way, I have a neighbour who had a Mercedes amg gl63 v8 who switched to a model 3 performance, now he drives faster through our modern housing development using the instant performance to fly through the tight twisty turns. I have seen several instances of EV owners madly accelerating. Was coming from a national to a 40 the other day after coming off the motorway and a middle aged lady decided to accelerated at the last minute to about 80 going into the 40 in her I’d buzz blowing the doors off even the bmw in front of me nearly causing an accident, that wouldn’t have happen in transporter t6, it was the instant acceleration she used to carry out this manoeuvre

Not sure that we can blame the state of the roads on EV’s, most SUV’s are about the same and the increase in commercial vehicles is far worse.
