Now I have the PS5, my PS4 finally moves to the room with my racing seat and g25 set. Only to discover the old wheel didn't work with the PS4... shame on you Sony. Got myself DriveHub from the UK store... Checked the firmware but already had the latest v2.05. Plugged it in and the wheels and pedals all just work perfectly. I'm using Gran Turismo Sport which is so much easier with the wheel than a dualshock. Rev counter on the adapter is a nice touch! Well worth the £81 free shipping!

Nice video, I want to mention to you to go on the g29 settings menu on gtsport and change the correspondent button actions and layout, its just a matter of knowing the corresponding button on your actual wheel and mapping it to what you need. ..also can you do a follow up video with settings? in game and the wheel settings, because you never mention some , like sen - sensitivity which regards the degrees of rotation. my guess is that you have it in auto, because it matches the screen. thanks

coming from a g920, the drivers are 1:1, so if you bought an xbox logitech wheel this will literally take no set up or effort to feel perfect. Otherwise translating belt-driven feedback to direct drive it can feel pretty wonky without tampering with anything.

If I use DriveHub can I can just plug in my wheel and play as normal? Same force feedback, same wheel settings, same menu controls, everything? Thanks

Hey, thanks for watching. Actually yes your G920 will work as if it's a G29 on the PS4 with using the box. Same FFB level, controls etc. The box will simulate your wheel as a G29 so it helps that your controls are already matching what a G29 is.

Love all your videos that I've been able to watch but I have a question for you, I just spent all this money on a gaming pc, new monitor and now I just picked up the rift. Do you have the screen door effect in your rift if not how did you fix it? I've been playing pc2 on my new monitor and its beautiful but the rift doesn't have that same crispy look.

Camera WithWings Yeap. Your not imagining anything and your eyes are not messed up. I just got my rift and it has the screen door effect for sure. Basically a bit blurry if you don't have the headset fixed right and always the screen door effect. Looks like shit actually, but so immersive I don't want to play any other way. I'll be posting up some vids on the rift soon with more details. So click that bell to get your notifications.

yeah 34 in screen is super nice and clear. Rift is fun and immersive feeling, but like I mentioned it looks bad. I noticed even if you had enough GPU to run SS at 2.0 or greater it would still have the screen door effect.

Thanks this thing works good as long as you follow the order or connecting. Can't quite feel back wheels getting loose on turns but it's definitely good enough. I use Fanatec CSL.

I am on the verge of ordering the CSW2.5 package with the same wheel as you shown in the video. I am a long time user of the drive hub to connect my G25 to the ps4. How is the PS button activated with univeral hub? Is it by pressing the the funcky switch button? Do you get the button caps from Fanatec with the wheel? Not a big deal, but I'd like to make it more neutral in stead of Forza. The wheel looks really nice though :) Keep it up!

hey thanks for watching and comments. Yeah to switch to the Fanatec mode you hole the share and options button. You would look at the controls for the logitech g29 in GT Sport to identify them. I actually forget what they are, because that mode had not worked for me ever. @@maasmarco sounds great! Oh, I hear now. If I'm remembering correctly I used the funky switch to navigate thru the menus. No you don't use the 2 buttons to do it. Those are just for the fanaleds or fanatec mode.

Yeap I did test it this past weekend in F mode. It works great. I seem to be feeling increased curb effects and hits from the side. The wheel strength seems to be smoother as well, but I still turn it down to 80 on my wheel to feel more of the track. GT Sport IMO is seriously lacking FFB effects compared to what I'm used to on PC sims, but it all works great with this little box when I want to play some GT Sport. I say that because once you decide to go to PC you probably want mess with console sim racing very much. If you're deciding to go with the CSW 2.5 over the Elite I would say the CSW is overkill for console use, but perfect for PC use. Also, check out the Fanatec link. Hi, great video. I see that you use a wheel base V2 with a universal hub. I have the same combo. Since the hub doesn't have a share button I am unable to get the hub in Fanate mode? Were you able to get that mode activated and if so, how?

Thanks for watching. That mode still doesn’t work properly even after the GT sport Fanatec update. Also tried on other games with no luck. I had to abandon the Fanatec mode.

@@TJRSIM finally found out how to enable the Fanatec mode. 1. I updated the drive hub to the latest firmware. 2. On the top of your press and hold start and d-pad left together until you see your drive hub react. Then a F or L will appear on the display of your wheel. Set it to F. Works like a charme for me. FF is way better.

Have you tried it in Fanatec mode since GT Sport supports Fanatec now? Also, does the DriveHub still need to be in compatibility mode (red light)? I run the v2.5 w/drivehub on GT Sport and it works flawlessly. Only complaint: it shakes when idling.

Yeap tried it. Has slightly better FFB now. I run it in F mode to have the better FFB. It does switch up the button assignments from what you may be used to in L mode.

Nice review Larry, I'll have to pick one up! Off topic question, is there a wheel setting fix to correct center wheel dead zone using Fanatec V2 in Forza 7 PC. I don't know what they did, but now I have a lot of play, its not tight in the center like it use too be; any ideas would be appreciated. Tks Bud.👍

thanks man. Make sure that in the Fanatec Wheel Properties page on your pc that your wheel angle / sensitivity is set to 900. Sometimes it moves around when updates happen. Other then that you have the steering axis deadzone inside and outside within Forza 7 bunder advanced settings. Hope that helps you out.

Can you select what kind of wheel it will be detected as? Also, can you map inputs via the Drive Hub or must it be done in game? For example, I want to use a sequential shifter from my G25 with it and don't know if it will detect that correctly in the game if I use this.

Hey, thanks for watching and commenting. You can select the wheel thru the game, but with the Drive hub attached it remaps it all to be a G29 anyway so your wheel selection want matter. As for the drivehub you also can plug say your shifter into the accessories port to get that going. It auto-detects the shifter from my understanding however I didn't have a separate Fanatec shifter to test it. I would check out this link to see what shifters work with it. Hey, can you please try the handbrake with the drive hub? I've seen people that plug the handbrake into the CSL ps4 base and it has native support with gt sport. So I assume this would work with the CSW V2 with the drive hub right ? I'm thinking to get one but not sure if the handbrake would work

ok. Finally found my long rtj cable to test this out for you. I tested the HE handbrake plugged into the Drive Hub itself through the accessory port as well as tested the HE handbrake plugged directly into the fanatec handbrake port. the HE handbrake doesn't work in either of these instances. Drive Hub will program it though from my understanding to work with this drive hub box, but you may need to send your handbrake to them for testing. Hope this helps and great question!

Hey, thanks for watching. It still works great. I hardly play PS4 sim games nowadays. Mainly stick with PC, but yes it's worth it. Not very expensive to buy and works well for those that don't want to spend the extra $$ on a new sim racing wheel setup.

TJR off topic my apologies.. I wish you could answer a quick question? I am using Samsung 27" curve display 1st gen, how much better, immersion factor is the 34" x 21.9 screens besides fov gain. Remember im waiting on VR gen2 also

that's a good question. Mathematical it's about a 25% gain in the screen size. Try what I did before I bought one. Go to your local Best buy and just look at a 34 in screen compared to a 27in. It's actually a pretty big difference. Now assuming your current 27" monitor is placed just behind your wheelbase and the 34" monitor would be placed the same it's actually a decent FOV increase you will recognize in your pherphial vision while racing. Having a wider screen cuts out the surrounding that your eyes would normally get distracted with like furniture or whatever in your room. With that said if you plan on going to 2nd gen VR (which I hope comes soon, but GPU's will need to really improve) I honestly would save your money and keep your existing 27" screen. Mainly because you really don't need much of a screen if you use VR most the time for driving and will also want to upgrade your GPU with VR Now if you're like me and play other PC games like Assains Creed Origins, F1 2017, Ride 2, Mafia 3 Dirt 4 etc.. then I would upgrade to the 34" monitor to enjoys the wide viewing plan and 3k resolution of the Preditor X34 or something like it. Keep in mind not all racing games do VR although the best ones like Rfactor 2, iracing, Pcars2, RaceRoom, Automobilista do. Hope this helps. I'll have some VR content coming soon.

No it still sucks actually. It's may be better with the actual CSL Elite, but thru the drive hub it still very weak. I actually did a test recently to see if it was the game GT Sport or my hub so I downloaded Asseto Corsa on the PS4. Low and behold AC on PS4 was really strong FFB even comparable to the PC version, but GT Sport is not. I determined it's totally the game and not the hub. It's a shame because I think GT Sport looks great and is fun to play on a controller. But with a wheel it's a total loss for me. It does make me wonder if you used a DD wheel from Fanatec if it would be better. A wheel that should amplify the low FFB effect GT Sport gives. goo.gl/oWRku6

I owned the CSL Elite PS4 Edition and played GT Sport on my pro, however it recently started making a strange noise, which lead to me returning it for a full refund. I am now planning on getting the big brother bundle for 1499$ as everything there seem extremely solid. But I'm a little sceptical to that since my PS4 Pro will sort of become useless if I decide to go with that bundle (CSW 2.5).. What's your opinion? Is the hub good with other games on PS4 in terms of FFB etc? Should I just skip GT Sport, even though I enjoyed it quite a lot. Once again, appreciate your help!

Yes i do, but it's very inconsistent as GT Sport doesn't seem to have very good FFB for curbs. Even with the updated game it's pretty weak feeling subtle things like curbs. Gt Sport need to turn that effect up IMO.

The hub is to enable the use of many different wheels with an Xbox One or Ps4 even if your wheel wasn't originally supported by the consoles. For instant I use it to connect my Fanatec Clubsport v2 wheel into my PS4 Pro to play GT Sport. At the time of this video Polophany has not updated their game GT Sport with the Official PS4 licensed Fanatec CSL Elite. The drive Hub comes default with drivers for the G29 that basically all consoles are licensed for. Since GT Sport wasn't updated yet with the Fanatec drivers I have to use the G29 ones for the time being. When GT Sport updates to support the Fanatec CSL Elite I will switch to the better drivers for my wheel. Hope I answered your question and thanks for watching and commenting. 😊

hi thankyou for taking the time to answer my question and I now fully understand what its all about perhaps you could be kind enough to answer me one more question I have a ps4 pro and use a Logitech g29 with a brake mod bolted to my gt omega sim rig now is it worth me buying the fanate csl elite wheel bundle with the extra pedal with load sensor will I notice much of a difference will it be far better than my g29 ? I know it will be smoother because its belt driven but will I notice far better force feedback with the fanatec ? is it that much better that it warrants the price to upgrade ??? I love racing sims track and dirt rally especially ?? just need an honest opinion thankyou.

I give you my honest opinion. For me and a ton of others when you step up to the Fanatec from a Logitech G29, there really is no going back. Same for Thrustmaster. If you upgrade to the latest Thrustmaster over a G29 you will fill the difference right away in the steering. With Fanatec you will feel more road surfaces, more torque, smoother steering, no center notch to overcome etc.. Then when you add load cell pedals. It's icing on the cake. Load cell pedals are a big deal over potentiometer as they measure pressure instead of distance. This gives you the muscle memory like you experience in a real car. Thanks for asking. I'm sure you want look back after the upgrade.

Might be able to take out the deadzone with the wheel software itself (I don't have experience with that wheel though) or in game adjust the deadzone. For the pedals to work the need to be plugged into the wheel itself to be recognized or you could use the aux input if my memory serves me today.

TJRSim Haha! What did I say?? It’s crazy right? Its hard to convince someone who games at high resolutions the pros of VR and the difference in experiences. But once they try it there’s no comparison. I’ll never drive on a monitor again. I’m pretty sure most sims out there support VR now. I just got Dirt Rally on sale and even that has support now.

OhItsThat Totally agree. You don't want to leave the house when you know you can climb into a Lambo or Ferrari etc and run a few laps. I was totally surprised how much more accurate and consistent my laps got now that I can actually properly judge my distance beside cars and barriers. Yeah you have to defiantly see past the bad resolution. I noticed don't worry about setting up long distance graphics and instead make the car look pretty. Runs pretty good even on a 980ti although now I want a 1080ti. Lol. Glad I picked it up on sale for Xmas. Best present ever.

TJRSim I got mine in November. Was running it with a really good 780ti. It actually worked well considering the 780ti isn’t VR ready. Then Santa brought me the most powerful 1080ti on the market. I definitely spoiled myself but damn it was worth it. Have you tried Raceroom in VR yet? It’s actually pretty good. I would say iRacing is the best looking in VR followed by AC and pCars 2.

yeah I tried it. I agree that iracing looks the best in VR. Seems to be better optimized for VR. Love it in AC, pcars2 and Raceroom. I have more trouble with RR though as it doesn't always want to load up.
