That thing is incredible. How heavy is it? I always wondered what the the 7M is like in the Cressida because I only have experience with it in my 88' MK3. It's kind of amazing this was the sister car to that and a "luxury" car, but the MK3 is just WAY nicer inside with styling. More like Lexus I suppose. Probably a lot more expensive at the time though. EDIT: My bad, MK3 was 1986.5 and yours is 86 so probably 87+ Cressidas were more like the MK3 then.

cressidas are pretty badass. dont weigh much for a mid luxury sedan/ wagon. dirt cheap pretty decent motors compared to other japanese cars at the time and 240sx suspension is a pretty easy swap in. only issue is theyre hard to find in stick. i just personally like the styling of these old luxury cars.

Mark ii, chaser and cresta are all sister cars on the same platform. Chaser being the sportiest one and cresta being the more luxury oriented. Mark ii is somewhere in the middle. They're very popular drift cars in Japan. Tons of aftermarket support. The highest spec comes with a 2.5 litre twin turbo 1jzgte, with a 5 speed manual and lsd. They're great sporty sedans. The ones you looked at were 2 litre inline 6, 1gfe engine. Those are terrible.

Cressidas are 100% legit classics in Australia. Good ones cost ~same as a good Stinger. We're lucky, Australian Cressidas were both sold new & are also imported now from JP. Guys, I was 18 in 1988 & Cressidas were utterly the business then. Amazingly well received cars. Move over BMW, Cressida steamrolled us. It's looks are timeless, as this whole show proves. Cheers.

You guys know that the JZX100 Mark ii (that same body style) comes in a Tourer V spec with the 1jzgte and black interior? Basically the same thing as the Chaser. You're just looking at the useless spec of the Mark ii GX100. Cresta, Mark II, and Chaser jzx100s seriers are all the same car. You just need the Tourer V. Anything else is uncivilized.

I got a soft spot for 90s grandpa toyotas. These cars are basically just the same chassis with a different body/engine/trans. they arent fast, i think they make more sense as a cushy daily rather than for performance. Some more expensive/quick ones come with 1jz-gte, but most I've seen (at least on FBMP) are either non-turbo or some crusty i4. I've never driven one so I can't tell, but its definitely worth to pay the extra money to not be stuck in base model/slow purgatory

The JZX90 & JZX100 are long time staples in the drifting crowd in Japan. A few guys in D1GP still use them today. That car will sell, especially to someone making a drift build. That car has street cred. Also Keiichi Tsuchiya raced them in the JTCC. So also has drift king tax.

They're popular because they're rear wheel drive and JDM variants of the X chassis were offered with the 1JZGTE and even had a 5 spd option. They're essentially like sleeper 4 door Supras to those in the know. It's just a more niche JDM car than the more obvious GTR/Supra/RX7 the general public drools over.

You guys are crazy if you like S-chassis over Toyota JZX's. I have owned over 9 S-chassis in 18 years & they are piles of crap compared to a Toyota JZX. I had no idea how nice the JZX platform was until someone recommended me into looking into them. I ended up buying a 1995 5Spd JZX90 twin turbo Mark II Tourer V rated at 276hp from the factory(gentleman agreement), but actually more like 300hp. Currently I have 3 JDM vehicles, my 1993 Nissan 240sx vert(2nd vert I have owned), the above mentioned RHD 1995 twin turbo Toyota Mark II, & a RHD 1999 Honda Accord automatic 1.8 liter(its my putt putt car hahaha). No offense, but S-chassis cars have always been crappy cars, & this is coming from someone who loves S-chassis cars. You need to experience the Toyota JZX chassis before you can rag on it in my opinion. & yes, the non turbo automatic versions of the Toyota JZX's go for $10K, but a manual turbo model goes for double that. I am actually really surprised that all 4 of you guys have no clue about the Toyota JZX platform, & to be fare though, I had no idea either until a year & 8 months ago now. I am really bad about posting my cars online, I will need to get on Facebook or make a video here on youtube with all my cars for you to check out. P.S. That Le-seyde that you showed at the end of the video, that is from a dealership/importer called "the Import Guys". Dylan is the owner. Dylan, his wife, & his workers are the best in town. i work on cayennes daily, i would never buy one with the vr6. it's in the base model for a reason, it sucks to work on and has the dumbest cooling system, and it's an engine out to do timing. have not had to do nearly as much work to v6 or v8 cayennes.
