White robes, white bedsheets, white being the color of purity and innocence. Putting herself on the floor in front of the bed as if she is humbling herself. Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but the way she has her hair tied up and is speaking in a soft, calm voice is very different from how she presented herself in Toxic Gossip Train. She's trying to distance herself from the casual, somewhat manic and sardonic appearance she had in the ukulele video. She is visually trying to show that she is different, but the fact that she still has the video up says otherwise. She is marketing herself. This vlog is an ad. This is a character in a production, not a person talking about her feelings. The fact that she feels so comfortable continuing to profit off of all of this is proof of that. As a mom seeing all this unfold has caused me to think way more about the capacity I want to allow my children on the internet and has had me thinking about ways I can approach them to discuss internet safety as they get older. Right now they are still fairly young, but I get worried. Listening to Adam and Oliver discuss how they hid things from their parents in regards to Colleen makes me worried about my own kids. Those games can seem safe, but that’s where I first taught them to be aware of online dangers. Like not giving out their ages, names, locations, but even in casual conversations they could give hints about who they are, where they live, or any information about themselves. With a family full of gamers, learning internet safety was a must. Now - my oldest two are adults, and my youngest two are older teens but are smart , but still practice it. But even with kids being aware and practicing safety, like Adam - not realizing a favorite KZbinr was taking advantage of him and grooming. Because groomers are becoming more sophisticated.
